I checked my phone for the thousandth time in the last thirty minutes.

Nuri was busy with clients all day, so I found my way to the east side to check on things.

Jah told me they’d closed a trap that wasn’t generating enough income and stretched out the niggas responsible.

It didn’t take rocket science to know it was slow because they were stealing.

Dutch Reapers were big on loyalty. I strongly believed that if you stole once, you’d steal again.

It was better not to leave any loose ends, so once we handled that, we raced to Prosper Ave.

Lazer and Jah trailed me as we made our way to Joe’s Barbershop.

Joe was my old ass uncle, but he owned his shop for most of my life.

It was a place where we often came to clear our heads.

I went in the chair first and let Rare give me a fresh line-up.

My social media notifications were getting out of hand, so I scrolled through them when I heard the door chime.

I glanced up to see my father strolling coolly into the shop.

He walked over and dapped me up before walking up on Jah to put him in a headlock.

They always horsed around, so it wasn’t anything new.

We chopped shit up while I got my hair cut.

When Rare was done, I went to sit in the vacant service chair, leaning back.

Almost as if he knew he was on my mind, the door to the shop chimed again.

Only this time, Zero strolled in with Nuri’s brother and some other niggas I didn’t know.

The nigga was bold coming into Reaper territory like we wouldn’t air this bitch out too. I was on that about my wife.

My body tensed as I slowly stood up. My father wore the same scowl on his face as he and Zero grilled each other. Their dislike for each other was older than me, and I didn’t fully understand it. After a while, I realized I didn’t need to know. I was riding with my father no matter what.

“You have a death wish,” I spoke confidently. I was ready for whatever.

My eyes wouldn’t leave Nuri’s brother. I especially wanted to murk him.

By the firm set of his jaw, I could tell he felt the same way about me.

I smirked, made a gun with my fingers, then pointed it at his head.

I smiled widely when I pressed my imaginary trigger.

I needed him to know I was gunning for him.

Shit wasn’t a secret. That pussy and I would beef until one of us was in the grave.

And trust, I was not leaving my wife to be alone in this world.

Zero finally turned his attention to me. “Well, if it isn’t the wife thief.”

My top lip twitched. The nigga sounded stupid as fuck and looked even goofier standing there wearing an oversized three-piece suit that made him look like the pimp he used to be.

Those stupid ass braids had the nerve to have beads on the ends of them as they rested on top of his neck.

He needed to join the present with the rest of us and get his childish ass out of 2005.

“I didn’t steal shit. Nuri isn’t a piece of property,” I growled. I was ready to lift my bandana over my mouth and let bullets fly, but my father was cautioning me with his eyes to relax.

Zero smirked. “Isn’t she, though? And like the young people say, ‘I need that.’” He chuckled to himself, but I was disgusted by his entire existence.

He nodded to Nuri’s bitch ass brother. “Have you two had the chance to meet? This is Nuri’s brother, Rylas, and he promised her to me to clear a debt.

I’m sure you remember how strict I can be about my loans. ”

I remained silent because I didn’t give a fuck who her brother was.

He didn’t own his fucking sister. I wasn’t sure what demented voice in his head suggested otherwise, but I was going to silence it as soon as I got the chance.

As I looked at him standing there like a statue, it made me sick to my stomach knowing he was not raised to be such a disgrace.

But what could I say? Every family had its failures.

He pulled a manila envelope from his pocket and tried to hand it to me. When I didn’t budge, he tossed it at my feet, further pissing me off. Despite that, my eyes didn’t move from their target. I saw Jah twitch where he stood when Zero did it. None of us handled disrespect well.

“Those are annulment papers I had my lawyer draw up. You have forty-eight hours to sign them before I will have to take matters into my own hands. Nuri is much too valuable to allow to slip through the cracks. My union to her will set me up for life. Not to mention, she is easy on the eyes. Maybe she’s easy in the bedroom too. ”

Zero laughed with his posse like something was fucking funny. Considering I’d just experienced Nuri’s pussy for the first time, I was a little sensitive about that. I glanced at my father and signed that I was about to murk this nigga. He shook his head and signed back that it wasn’t the time.

My blood was boiling to the point where I was sure there was smoke coming from my pores.

I swiped my nose and finally decided to speak.

“Fuck you, Zero. My wife will never leave my side. I’m not signing shit, and as far as I’m concerned, we’re already at war nigga.

You tried to take my woman from me, and that’s some shit I just can’t forgive.

” I looked at her brother. “I’ll be seeing you, pussy. ”

Rylas cracked a smile, looking as maniacal as I did. Yeah... that nigga was going to be a problem, but it was cool. As a Virgo, I was a great problem solver. It damn near had me bouncing on my toes knowing I was going to have that nigga eating dirt for eternity.

I closed the distance between us, and everyone in the room held their breath. “I’m warning you to make this your last time on Reaper territory. Next time I see you, it’s on sight.”

Zero reached for my arm as I went to walk by. I looked down at his hand on me at the same time he spoke.

“We could’ve worked together, Sekai.” His voice was softer, but when I looked in his eyes, I saw the truth. He was soulless and greedy, and I truly believed it would be his demise.

“Linkin’ with opps never crossed my mind,” I spat with venom, reciting YTB Fatt lyrics.

He chuckled. “You sure you want to do this, Sekai? Nothing is off limits.”

It was my turn to laugh. That nigga thought he could put fear in my heart. The only thing that scared me was Nuri being without me.

“It’s already done, Zero. But I’m happy you know that nothing is off limits. See you in hell.” I winked, then pushed past him and his men. Without turning around, I knew my people had all come out behind me. They would always have my back.

“Big house!” I yelled out, letting everybody know where to meet me.

It was war, and it was the kind that wasn’t to be played with.

Bodies were going to drop, blood would be spilled, and mothers would lose their sons.

.. However, one thing I knew for sure was that Nuri wouldn’t be left alone in this fucked up world.

No one was touching a pretty little nappy hair on her head.

I was willing to do whatever it took to keep my wife safe, and I put that on my life.
