Story: Stars In His Eyes

He Zhilan withdrew her hand with great awkwardness and looked up at He Teng, noticing his serious expression, which did not seem to be joking.

"Forget it," after a long while, He Zhilan shook her head, "I know there must be a reason for what you’re doing. This morning, I also lost my temper the whole morning, hitting your pillow at least a hundred times. It’s just because I’m mad you didn’t tell me the reason, by myself, my mind goes all over the place. "

"There’s nothing much to think about. I just wanted you to spend more time with me," He Teng raised his hand to touch He Zhilan’s face, sighing slightly; his little wife has always been so sensible.

But at times like this, He Teng would actually rather He Zhilan throw a tantrum, hit or scold him than to speak to him so rationally.

"If you won’t say it, forget it." He Zhilan looked down at her own toes and asked in a muffled voice, "Then can you tell me, is it that I have an incurable disease?"

"What?" He Teng’s expression was shocked, "Who said you have an incurable disease? You’ve been conjuring up all sorts of things by yourself all morning long?"

"If not that, then what?" He Zhilan raised her eyes, her gaze full of questions.

"Don’t you know your own body? Can’t you feel for yourself if there is any discomfort?" He Teng really couldn’t help but chuckle, "Stop worrying about your body and looks without reason."

Listening to He Teng’s words, He Zhilan felt that it indeed made sense.

She should be able to tell how her own body was feeling—she ate well and had good spirits. There was no pain anywhere, so how could she suddenly get an incurable disease?

He Zhilan was easier to console than He Teng had thought. No longer angry, she took him to the dining table, busily getting him bowls and chopsticks like a diligent little bee and then propped her head with one hand, watching him eat heartily with a smile.

In the women’s prison in the capital, Ding Long finally came here, just to visit Gu En.

"I heard the heads of the Gu Family are coming to see you; aren’t you going to meet them?" Ding Long looked at the person behind the bars, taking a moment to recognize Gu En.

Gu En’s face bore obvious scratches, and there was a large bruise on the back of her hand.

"Did you get into a fight with someone in here?" Ding Long was somewhat astonished.

"You think I fought someone?" Gu En sneered scornfully, "This is Chen Yun’s territory; if he wants someone to ’take good care’ of me, isn’t it just a word away for him?"

Ding Long’s eyes shifted, understanding that Chen Yun was settling personal scores, looking to provoke Gu En so that Gu En would be beaten by her senior inmates in prison.

"I thought that once I got in here, you’d want to part ways with me. I never expected that, in my lifetime, I’d still be able to wait for your visit," Gu En said.

"I’ve been a bit busy recently, so it’s been delayed until now," Ding Long answered.

Of course, Gu En wouldn’t believe such an answer, but she wasn’t so foolish as to fall out with Ding Long at this point.

"Why won’t you see the Gu Family? Don’t forget, the Gu Family is your biggest support," Ding Long asked again.

"What’s there to see? If they really wanted to get me out, they wouldn’t have thrown me in here in the first place, nor would they have terminated the adoption," Gu En said.

"I thought the adoption was just a Gu Family strategy. Are you really not their biological daughter?" Ding Long asked while closely watching the changes in Gu En’s expression; seeing nothing but mockery on her face, he felt he understood the answer to this question.

It seemed that Gu En truly was not the Gu Family’s biological daughter.
