Story: Stars In His Eyes

"By the time you get to the entrance of the barracks, the bus will definitely have left.

Going there will be pointless. You might as well stay at home, rest, then make lunch and wait for me to come back and eat with you.

" He Teng leaned against the bathroom door with a mischievous smile, raised his hand, and pointed at the clock on the living room wall to remind He Zhilan.

He Zhilan looked up and saw that indeed, from the family courtyard to the entrance of the barracks, the bus had already left!

"Don’t come back at noon! I won’t make you lunch! And don’t come back at night either! In fact, don’t ever come back!" He Zhilan was really furious as she threw her bag towards He Teng and stormed into the bedroom, slamming the door behind her.

He Teng, quick-witted, caught He Zhilan’s bag in mid-air, murmuring to himself that He Zhilan, who usually barely lost her temper, was indeed terrifying when she did.

"Zhilan." After putting He Zhilan’s bag back on the chair, He Teng moved to the bedroom door and knocked, "Wifey~"

There was no response from inside. He Teng said, "You’re angry. Come out, hit me, scold me, but don’t forget to have breakfast. Your health isn’t great; you can’t skip breakfast."

"I’d rather starve!"

Finally, a response came from inside, but clearly, she was still angry, and her voice carried a hint of crying.

He Teng quietly sighed, "Be good, listen to me. I’m going out now, but you must come out and eat breakfast. I’ll come back for lunch and eat with you."

Seeing that there was no further response from inside, He Teng left the house, feeling utterly helpless.

Only after hearing the sound of the front door closing did the bedroom door gently open. He Zhilan stood at the doorway, her eyes slightly red, staring at the bean juice and buns on the dining table but eventually went over and ate her breakfast.

After returning to the office, He Teng first called Lin Chan, saying that he had resigned from He Zhilan’s job at the translation company. Upon hearing this, Lin Chan burst out laughing.

"Wow, aren’t you afraid Zhilan will claw you to death? Last time you quit her school job, she was mad at you for days," said Lin Chan, somewhat reveling in his plight.

"Yeah, she’s angry," He Teng replied indifferently, then hung up; he was just giving Lin Chan a heads-up. He knew that no matter how angry He Zhilan was, she would never let their father worry about their small family matters. Thus, the only people He Zhilan might call were Lin Chan and He Dongxue, but Dongxue was busy at the hospital and being the younger sister, He Zhilan wouldn’t want to needlessly worry her. Naturally, only Lin Chan was left.

He Teng really did understand He Zhilan; after having breakfast, she called Lin Chan and vented about He Teng, calling him a tyrant, a domineering tyrant.

Listening to He Zhilan cursing He Mutou, Lin Chan couldn’t stop laughing, reveling in the chaos, not pacifying He Zhilan, but instead, joining her in cursing He Teng.

"Exactly! A tyrant! He Mutou is a tyrant! When he comes back at noon, don’t cook for him! Let him watch you enjoying your meal and drink!"

"When I asked him why, he wouldn’t say anything!" He Zhilan was genuinely angry, "This is the second time now, he resigns from jobs quicker than I can find them!"

"Maybe your husband has a unique hobby. Maybe you should take him to the hospital to check if his brain is okay?" Lin Chan laughed mischievously.

Hearing Lin Chan’s tone, He Zhilan instantly understood, "You knew about this already, didn’t you? You also know why he did this, right?"
