Story: Stars In His Eyes

After returning to the capital, He Teng shared with Lin Chan and others the opportunity her professor had presented to her.

Upon hearing it was in C Province, Lin Chan was taken aback.

"Isn’t C Province where you spent your childhood?

It’s home to many individuals from the Gu Family.

Have your professors mentioned the specific city in C Province?

Maybe you could visit your childhood city! "

"What is there to see?" He Zhilan retorted without even lifting her eyes. Even though she was aware her childhood city fell under C Province, she had never thought of revisiting her past.

"Indeed, what’s the point when everything has changed?

" Chen Yun chimed in, then continued, "However, this could be a good opportunity for you!

If your professor has enough confidence in the team to promise their credibility, it must mean she already knows and understands them.

The question is whether you dare to take the risk. If I were you, I would go!"

"If you decide to go, I do have someone in C Province. I’m not sure if they are in the same city, but once you’re certain, let me know. If you end up in the same city, I’ll get in touch with my friend there to take care of you," Xing Ye offered.

"No!" He Zhilan immediately shook her head. "Xing Ye, I know who you’re referring to. Don’t expose your covert operation because of me, if word gets out, I’d rather not go!"

"How did you get to be so smart?" Lin Chan chuckled, patting He Zhilan on the head. It seemed that their little Zhilan was quick-witted, catching onto Xing Ye’s covert intention just from a single remark.

"I trust my professor. If she says they can be trusted, then they surely can. The public security’s also good now, so there shouldn’t be any unpredictable incidents.

But I doubt I’m that unlucky, encountering some disaster while I’m away," He Zhilan laughed. "Seeing that you’re all so supportive, I’ll go!

I’ll tell my professor first thing tomorrow morning that I’m willing to give it a shot!

I just hope her friend’s business isn’t too complex.

I’m worried my inexperience might mess things up! "

"What’s there to fear? Just have fun!" Lin Chan laughed. "We’ll all be here, cheering you on! Our Zhilan will surely be the best amongst all!"

Having made her decision, He Zhilan confirmed to her professor at the beginning of the following week. Consequently, her return was delayed by about half a month.

After accepting her professor’s offer, He Zhilan made a call to He Teng, notifying him about her decision.

She also mentioned that she might be unable to visit the troops during the weekend due to her examination preparations.

Hearing He Teng’s nonchalant approval over the phone left He Zhilan slightly disappointed.

Does the possibility of not seeing him for two months not elicit any reaction from him? Doesn’t he feel even a slight bit of reluctance? He should know that she was reluctant to leave.

He Teng’s indifferent response made He Zhilan realize her insufficient presence in He Teng’s life. Regardless, even though her final exams were only a weekend away, she still cheerfully spent her time visiting He Teng at the troops for two days.

Once the final exams ended, He Zhilan’s father phoned her.

He was disheartened upon learning from He Teng that she would be delaying her visit by half a month.

Yet, when he realized that her delay was due to her outstanding academic performance, which had captured her teacher’s attention, he immediately swelled with pride. After all, He Zhilan was his daughter.
