Story: Stars In His Eyes

"Have you been standing here without moving since I left? Did you skip dinner too?" He Teng said with indescribable heartache, "Can’t you take care of yourself when I’m gone just for a little while? Everyone else is having supper, and you’re not even eating dinner?"

"Why did you come back so quickly?" He Zhilan buried her face in He Teng’s chest, mischievously wiping her tears on his shirt, then looked up with a smile, "So soon, have you had dinner?"

"Quick?" He Teng sighed, "It’s already 8:50, I’ve been out for more than three hours."

"More than three hours? It felt like just three minutes!" He Zhilan exclaimed, "Oh no, the soup I had stewing on the stove when you left, it didn’t burn up, did it?"

"Just sit, I’ll go serve it for you." He Teng held He Zhilan, urging her to sit and rest.

Fortunately, the soup was still warm and hadn’t dried up.

He Teng brought the bowl of soup over and urged her to drink it. "Should I stir-fry some rice for you?"

"Sure! Fried rice! Luckily, there’s some rice left in the pot!" Zhilan’s eyes curved, "I want to add shredded meat, veggies, and dried shrimp!"

"Don’t you want eggs?" He Teng raised an eyebrow.

"Pfft~" Zhilan gave He Teng a laugh, "Who makes egg fried rice without eggs? Hurry up, I’ll sip the soup while waiting for the fried rice!"

Seeing Zhilan laughing happily, without a hint of gloom in her eyes, He Teng then turned to the kitchen.

His cooking skills weren’t great, but his fried rice was good. It was refined while he was taking care of postpartum Zhilan, trying various recipes to get her to eat more.
