Story: Stars In His Eyes

Seeing He Teng come out, He Dongxue asked, "Brother, what are our plans for tonight? I noticed that a lot of family members visited the base over the summer vacation. Do we still have rooms available in the guesthouse?"

"Why do we need a room?" Chen Ya’nan chimed in, "Uncle He has two rooms here. The other one also has a bed, and we also have quilts at my place!"

"If there’s no room available at the guesthouse, then Father and Second Brother can sleep in the room next door, and Dongxue can make do with Ya’nan." He Zhilan suggested.

"Sister Zhilan, why does it sound like Dongxue and I sharing a bed is making do?" Chen Ya’nan murmured under her breath.

"What’s wrong with making do? I’ve heard your mother say that you roll from the head of the bed to the foot in one night!" He Dongxue laughed heartily.

"That’s not true! That’s old news." Chen Ya’nan retorted, "Don’t believe me? Share a bed with me tonight and you’ll see! I promise I won’t kick the blanket, or roll around!"

Upon hearing about blanket kicking and rolling, He Teng glanced at He Zhilan. Zhilan had this exact problem!

Over the years, He Zhilan would snuggle up to him whenever she had the chance.

It was common for them to sleep together.

When the weather was neither too cold nor too hot, Zhilan would kick the blanket all night long.

Anyone sleeping next to her could catch a cold.

As for the rolling, that was deliberate on her part.

"What about Sister Zhilan? Where will she sleep tonight?" Chen Ya’nan turned to He Zhilan, "Sister Zhilan, why don’t you join Dongxue and me in my room? My bed is huge, 1.8 meters wide! Enough for the three of us."

"Ah, I knew it! Your parents must have gotten that big bed just to keep you from rolling off to the floor in your sleep!" He Dongxue quickly made the retort, taking the opportunity to tease Chen Ya’nan, and then looked at He Zhilan.

"Why would I go to sleep with you if I’m not sleeping with Uncle He?

Wait for you to kick both Dongxue and me off the bed with your martial arts in the middle of the night?

No way, Uncle He doesn’t move around in his sleep like you do.

" He Zhilan touched her nose as she glanced at He Teng. Seeing that He Teng didn’t object, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Fine." Chen Ya’nan didn’t press further and went off with He Dongxue to fetch the quilts from her house.

He Teng’s kitchen was bare; there were no bowls, plates, or utensils. As a result, everyone decided to have dinner in the canteen. After dinner, knowing how exhausting the journey had been for He’s father and He Da, He Zhilan quickly prepared the bed in the room next door for the two to rest.

You had to admit, there were benefits to living in the new family housing. Each household was equipped with hot water. As He Zhilan liked cleanliness, this was a great convenience for her if she wanted to take a hot shower before bed.

He Zhilan took a shower first, and upon her return, He Teng dashed into the bathroom for a quick rinse. When he entered the room, he saw Zhilan situated cozily on his bed. His instinctive response was one of unease.

"Playing the Door God in the doorway?" He Zhilan looked up at He Teng upon hearing the noise. "Close the door gently, dad and He Da aren’t used to train rides. They hardly had a good rest on the way here. Don’t wake them."

Only then did He Teng walk in, and naturally, he closed the door gently. The window of the room was left open, and the cool breeze that blew in made the room very comfortable.

He Teng stood by the bed for several seconds before slipping off his slippers and lying down beside He Zhilan.

Almost as if it was expected, the moment he lay down, He Zhilan rolled from the other side of the bed till she was beside him.

She only stopped when she touched his arm.

Despite the heat, she didn’t mind being close to him.
