Page 92 of Seduction
“Yeah, A-plus,” Venom adds, slapping Jon’s back.
He doesn’t reply, just chuckles as he clears the table. He shoves the articles back in the bag, handing it to Tyler to dispose of. Gage smiles, nodding as he backs away.
I tug on Jon’s cut to get his attention. “Thank you.”
“For what?” His brows furrow.
“That.” I jerk my head in the direction Mikey ran off. “Accepting him…usinto your life.”
“No need to thank me for that. You and Mikey are my family now. You know that, right?” He raises a brow.
“I do now,” I answer, my heart bursting with happiness.
His fingers curl around the back of my neck, and he pulls me forward, planting a kiss on my forehead.
“I need to talk to the prospect, and then I’ll take you home.”
“Okay.”
He heads over to the bar where Gage and Tyler are, while I go in search of Mikey and Daddy. Mikey is sitting on Daddy’s bed, absentmindedly sloshing the water in his “ocean in a bottle” while watching TV. Daddy is next to him, absorbed in something on his phone.
“Hey, guys.”
“Hey, Momma.”
“Time to go, baby. Get your stuff together.”
“O-kay.”
He hops off the bed, shoving toys into his backpack. I walk over to my father, kissing his cheek.
“See you later, Daddy.”
“Okay, darlin’. Love you, baby girl.”
“Love you, too.”
I gather up Mikey and his bag, heading back to the bar. Jon is engaged in a serious conversation with Gage but smiles proudly as we approach, extending his hand to me. We say our goodbyes, then make our way to my car. Instead of letting us get in, Jon removes Mikey’s car seat, setting it up in his car. Once Mikey’s all strapped in, he turns to me, a solemn expression in place.
“I have something I need to take care of, but I’m taking you to my place. I want you in my bed when I get home.”
“Club?”
“Yeah. The prospect will stay with you.”
“That’s not necessary. I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
“The prospect stays.”
The muscles in his jaw begin to clench, and I get the feeling it has something to do with whatever’s going on with the club. I nod, knowing better than to argue or ask questions. Instead, I slide into the car and buckle my seat belt. Jon climbs in next to me, checking on Mikey in the rearview mirror before moving out.
“There’s no food at the house. Not like I’m there much. You can call ahead and order something. We’ll pick it up or get it delivered.”
“No problem. Mikey,” I turn to face him, “Chinese or pizza?”
“Pizzaaaa!”
I chuckle, knowing there was no competition there.
