Page 52 of Seduction
“Hey, Einstein.” She bats her lids. “Anything I can get you?”
“I’m good, thanks.”
Her gaze remains on him just a bit too long for my liking. Again, I don’t know why. It’s not like he’s mine.
The redhead glances at me and, as an afterthought, adds, “Need anything?”
“No, thanks.”
She lingers but finally slinks away when Jon doesn’t pay her the attention she wants.
“She’s cute,” I say.
“Trixie? I guess.” He shrugs.
“You guess? Did you see the way she was looking at you?”
“She’s a Hound,” he says matter-of-factly.
“Yeah. They probably fall all over you.”
It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to know he might have been with all these women. After all, that’s a part of the reason they’re here, not just to cook and clean.
“Well, sometimes people most desire what they can’t have.”
“What do you mean?” I ask.
Looking up from his meal, he meets my stare.
“Ellen, I haven’t been with a Hound in years. Most of them are new, so definitely none of them in this room. In fact, there’s only one woman here I’m interested in, and she’s sitting right next to me.”
“Oh.”
That was… enlightening. But how can it be true? With everything that goes on in this clubhouse, he hasn’t been utilizing the benefit the other brothers love the most? Especially since he said he hasn’t had time for relationships? I find that hard to believe.
“I know what you’re thinking. Stop. It’s the truth.”
“Really?”
“Really. I would never lie to you, Ellen.”
I drop my gaze, going back to my dinner. That means… we’re both breaking quite a dry spell.
“Why me?” The words are past my lips before I can stop them.
He lays his fork down, turning to face me. Taking my hands, he trails his thumbs across my knuckles as he speaks.
“Why not you? You’re beautiful, smart, funny….” His eyes travel down my body hungrily. “Sexy as fuck.” Blushing, I turn my head to the side. He takes my chin, forcing my gaze back to him. “You have a good heart, and you’re an excellent mother. Most of all, you’ve awakened something in me that I haven’t felt for anyone else. So… that’s why it’s you.”
“Jon….”
My breath catches and no more words come. He pushes to his feet, helping me up.
“Get your things. I’m taking you home.”
I nod because it’s all I can do. When I go to collect Mikey, Daddy waves me off.
“Go on, baby girl. Lil man and I will be fine.”
