The hand on my neck moves back into my hair, massaging my scalp. Our moans mingle right before he tears his lips away, grabs a handful of my hair, and tugs my head back.

“Einstein….” I groan as he kisses the base of my neck.

With my body now blazing from his touch, I lose track of his movements; all I’m aware of are the feelings they’re inducing. I tremble in his arms, my neck rolling from side to side to give him more room to work. I gasp when he grabs my ass, lifting me onto the island before stepping between my legs. Breathing heavily, he lays his forehead on my sternum, his warm breath flitting across my cleavage.

“Don’t stop,” I beg.

He raises his head, and our eyes meet. I can see it—how much he wants this.Me.

“I think we’ve known each other long enough to skip a few steps. Please….”

“That’s not your brain talking.”

“And I wish you would just turn yours off for a bit. There’s nothing to think about here.”

“Trust me, Ellen. You’re not ready.”

“How do you know?”

“You don’t want me enough yet.”

He made the statement with such confidence, but it does nothing to help my confusion.

“What? Were you not here the last couple of minutes?”

“You haven’t been touched in so long….” He gently runs his finger down my neck, watching me shiver. “Your reaction is normal. At this point, any man could take my place. However….” His finger traces the tops of my breasts as his eyes follow it. A chill runs up my spine, and I moan. “When I do fuck you, Ellen, I’ll be the only man whose touch you crave.”

Leaning in, he trails his nose up my neck, whispering against my skin. My head falls back, eyelids fluttering closed.

“You’ll want me so much, I’ll be in your dreams every night. You’ll see my face and hear my voice everywhere you go.”

He moves to the other side of my neck, licking my skin as he goes. I slide my fingers into his hair, clutching it as I shake from head to toe.

“Your body will be crying out for me.” He nips at my earlobe. “Onlyme.”

“Jesus.” His warmth disappears, and I open my eyes to find him watching me. “How do you know I’m not there already?”

“Trust me,” he repeats.

I search his eyes, wondering what it is he sees in me that I don’t. Why he thinks I’m not ready. “Okay,” I reply reluctantly.

He replaces his glasses, comporting himself as if he didn’t just kiss the hell out of me, and is not sporting a hefty boner. Grabbing his beer, he returns to his place at the opposite corner. I shift on the island, praying the pulsing between my legs calms down.

“What are you doing tomorrow?” he asks.

“I have an event to plan, so since Daddy has Mikey, I’m going shopping for supplies before I have to pick him up from pre-K.”

“What time do you plan on leaving here?”

“Around eleven.”

“I’ll be here by ten forty-five.”

“You mean… you want to come shopping with me?”

“Why do you look so surprised?”
