Page 70 of Saving Ren
Me:You’re no fun
An hour later. . .
Gabe:You eaten yet?
Me:Nope!
Gabe:Wanna suck on this?
He sends a photo of a choc ice, so I pull a banana off the bunch hanging on the bench, remove the skin, then take a photo of me deep throating it and send it to him with the caption:
Me:No thanks. I’m full! ;)
Gabe:You don’t play fair! X
His last message was an hour or so ago, telling me their flight was delayed and wouldn’t be getting in till eight this evening. By the time he drops Ava home, it’ll be around eleven when he gets here.
I’m showered, wearing nothing but Gabe’s T-shirt and a pair of his boxers, and am now seriously worried that I’ve peaked too early. Expecting him home around eight, I opened a bottle of Prosecco at six. It’s now nine-thirty, and I’m on my second bottle and struggling to stay awake.
At ten, unable to keep my eyes open, I crawl into bed and pass out.
* * *
I wake to a hard, hot body pressed in behind me, and a finger trailing over the dip of my waist. His scent invades my senses before I’ve even opened my eyes.
Turning to look over my shoulder, I find Gabriel Wild, in all his dark-haired, blue-eyed, stubble-covered-jaw-perfection, looking back at me.
“Hey,” I croak out while trying not to breathe my morning breath over him.
His eyes trail a path all over my face before coming back to land on mine.
He smiles.
And something lights up inside me.
“You’re looking better today. I’ve missed you so fucking much,” he shakes his head and tells me. “Coming home hasnever, noteverfelt so good, Ren.”
“I missed you too, but right now, I really need the bathroom.”
All of my plans to go in for a kiss have now gone out of the window, right along with my Prosecco-induced bravado. The timing’s all wrong. I need to use the bathroom and I need to clean my teeth. Meanwhile, Gabe’s still shaking his head.
“That’s it? That’s all you’ve got for me?”
“I’ll have more for you once I’ve had a wee and cleaned my teeth,” I promise while attempting to slide out from where I’m wedged up against him.
He shifts, and I slide out of bed and walk to the bathroom on unsteady legs, acutely aware that he’s watching me.
I do what I need to do, and when I walk back out to the bedroom, Gabe’s sitting with his back to the headboard holding up his phone to me. I hadn’t even noticed earlier that he was shirtless, but I do now.
“Jimmy’s on his way, he needs to check the levels on the pool.”
“He was only here last week. Why’s he need to check them again?” I ask as I move back towards the bed, his eyes looking me up and down as I approach him.
“He always comes back the week after he first sets it up, then he switches to just once a month. Stay there,” he orders with barely a pause.
I stop moving.
“You forget to do laundry while I was away?” Gabe asks while obviouslynottrying too hard to fight a grin.
