Page 10 of Ondine: Vol. 2
I make my way down the hall toward the nest. I lean my ear towards the door. There it is. Moaning. I can hear both of them. They don’t sound stressed. But I put my hand on the doorhandle. Slowly I turn the handle open, while pushing my head in.
God, the scents. Glorious scents. I can barely distinguish Ondine’s vanilla against Freddie’s black tea scent. They’ve merged and created this sex cocktail. It’s darker here, but my eyes have already adjusted. Ondine is straddling some pillows with her whole body, her head thrown back and her leg is out wide. Freddie is overtop of her, fucking her beautifully from behind. Slow and agonizing strokes. His hands are splayed on her hips, pushing down on her while he pumps his cock into her. He leans down and licks his bite mark on her neck, and she lets out a cry of pleasure. Her skin is shiny with sweat and her hair is this sexy mess, and it’s everything I can do not to keep staring.
Ondine’s eyes open slowly to mine. She gives me a little half smile, but I don’t stick around. I pull out and shut the door as quietly as possible.
As soon as the door closes, I catch my breath and rest my forehead on the wood.
Goddamn.
The bags arrive from the other room about thirty minutes later, and I’m sorting through them to make sure we have everything when I hear the shower turn on. Jake had made the hotel staff move our things. I’m trying to find Ondine’s and Freddie’s stuff so I can get it to them.
The door chimes with breakfast. But when I answer it, it’s Boone Anderson. And breakfast.
“Boone?”
Killer hisses from behind me.
He’s dressed up in a collared shirt and one of his nice cowboy hats with ribbons around it. He gestures for me to move so he can wheel in the cart.
“How are you here?” I ask because I can’t figure out how else to word it.
“I called Jake and he told me what happened. I’d seen on the news that there was police activity at the Fine Bastian Club and got worried.”
I’m trying to wrap my head around how he found the room. Maybe he followed Room Service here?
My phone rings and I leave the hallway to go get the phone. Boone finishes bringing the cart all the way in.
“Jake?” I answer. “Is everything ok?”
“I got you on speaker, Sabbies. Tell me how Ondine is.”
“She’s doing well.” I watch Boone look through the muffins and bacon. He flips through the tea I specifically ordered for Ondine, pockets some it, then sniffs the coffee. “She’s in the shower. I’ve ordered breakfast. Freddie is in the nest. The hotel delivered all our bags from the other room.”
“I miss her. I want to talk to her.”
“I’ll figure something out. I haven’t even been able to talk to her. Also, Boone just arrived?”
“Oh, what?”
“Yeah.”
Boone walks over and waves to me. I bend the phone down for him to say, “Hey Jake!”
I put the phone back up to my ear.
There’s a long pause.
Finally, he says, “We’ll talk more later about that. For now, I have something important to ask.”
Boone starts smelling the air and walking around. He picks up a pillow and smells it, looks a bit shocked, then puts the pillow back down.
“I’d like to bond a beta into our pack.”
I could have made a list of one hundred things Jake could be asking, and that would not be on it. A new pack member? A beta?
“Who?”
I walk down the hall for some privacy.
