Page 27 of Meek: Chasing That Gangsta Love
C lass was over early, and I was surprised to see Meek home sitting on the porch waiting for me.
He was wearing an Armani shirt with a black leather jacket and some jeans with a pair of Timbs.
His dreads were hanging with a fresh tape, and he was wearing his ice around his neck.
He stood up when I pulled up looking at his watch.
“Damn Kish, I’ve been waiting for you for a hour. ” He smiled walking up on me.
“I’m sorry baby, it was traffic, and I didn’t expect you to be sitting waiting.” I reached up and kissed him on his soft lips.
“Grab your jacket.” He said. “It’s too cold out here to be out here with no sleeves on.”
“I’ll be right back.” I told him walking in the house to grab my hot pink UGGS and a jacket so we could go to lunch.
He was big on quality time and so was I.
We made a promise that no matter what we did in our daily lives we wouldn’t forget to make time for each other.
Everything with Meek was easy going, no hassle complaints, or expecting shit in return, not even sex.
So, the least I could do was be the woman he needed me to be.
I hopped in the passenger seat of his Hummer and turned the heater on. “Have you started looking for a shop yet? You have any idea of what area you want to put it in?” He asked me.
I was ready to put my money to some good use.
I didn’t want my daddy’s hard-working money to go in vain so I was using majority of it for my shop.
I only nibbled off of it when I needed too for the most part.
It was crazy because with Kidd, he wanted me in designer everything, but with Meek we did as we pleased and wore what we wanted to wear, even if we chose otherwise.
If it was something we wanted we could probably easily get it.
We didn’t go all out like that though, as long as we were comfortable that’s all that mattered.
“I’ve been looking at the new building on 199 th and 27 th Avenue right across from the stadium because it’s a lot of traffic over there and the business would be good. I’m almost positive.”
“Yeah, that’s a good spot.” He agreed. I couldn’t stop staring at Meek. I found myself doing that a lot lately. He changed so much from when we were younger, at least in the looks area. He was always cute, but he was fine as hell now.
We arrived in front of Lorna’s and decided to dine in and eat. We both ordered the smothered chicken, rice, and collard greens with a fruit punch flop on the side.
“You know I love you right?” He asked.
“I know Meek, you love me just as much as I love you.” I leaned over the table and kissed him again.
After lunch we rode back to the house so he could drop me off because he had to get to the shop. His shit starting ass mama was back in the driveway waiting for Meek to arrive. I sucked my teeth. “Why does she keep coming around? To curse me out every chance that she gets?”
Meek looked in my eyes lifting my hand to his mouth before placing a kiss on it. “Get out ma, you ain’t even gotta worry about her cause we gone dead this shit right now.”
He got out and I reluctantly followed his lead.
She stood outside of her car and smiled when she saw Meek while stretching her arms in front of her so she could hug him.
“It’s about time I get to catch up with you son.
Ain’t you gonna give your mama a hug?” She cut her eyes at me while she spoke to him.
Meek leaned up against the front of his truck and crossed one leg in front of the other. “What you want Victoria?”
She put her arms down and walked closer to him. “Come on, don’t be like that. You’re still my son and I have every right to check on you.” She said.
“Like you used to do?” He asked.
She looked at me grilling me like she wanted to wrangle my neck. “What did this little trick tell you about me? Probably all kind of bullshit.”
I didn’t want to disrespect his hoe ass mama in front of him, so I didn’t say anything; I fell back off of this one to let Meek handle it.
“First of all, this gon’ be the last time you disrespect her; this the same girl that opened her little room for me all those nights you put me out and she ain’t did shit to you.
You don’t really hate her, you hate your damn self.
Now, if having or building a relationship with me is something you want to do, then maybe I’d be open for that if you weren’t so fucking messy and conniving.
I don’t even know if I can do that though, because you always come with a fucking motive.
Why you really keep coming around, huh? Cause I don’t have shit for you. ”
“I’m coming around because you’re my son, and just maybe I do want that relationship. I don’t have to respect her; she had you shot.” She replied.
Meek shook his head while his dreads shook right along with it.
“No the fuck she didn’t. She hasn’t done shit to you, or me, or nobody the fuck else; and I’m not about to let you come around here and be on no bullshit.
You owe her an apology for that shit you pulled at the hospital.
You don’t know how strong she really is, you also need to apologize for that last stunt as well.
For the record, she didn’t have you banned, that was my choice. ”
“I don’t have to apologize to nobody until she has a ring on her finger and until then, I don’t have to do a motherfucking thing little boy.”
“Well, you ain’t welcome here then Victoria; you can go now. Don’t let the car door hit you in your ass on the way out. I’d never disrespect a woman.” He shook his head again. “But you…I don’t know what the fuck you are.”
“Your mama! The bitch that pushed you out my pussy and brought your stubborn ass into this world.”
“Bye Victoria.” He said again.
She held her car door open with one hand.
“Until I see any bitch with a ring on, and not just some fucking promise ring, I’m still the queen and don’t have to apologize to nobody.
If you’re anything like your hoe ass daddy, that won’t be happening anytime soon anyway.
I’ll be back when you calm down.” She said backing out and speeding off.
“She literally fucking hates me.” I frowned.
“Don’t worry about her. It’s all about us.” He stood in front of me wrapping both of his strong arms around my waist. “I’ll see you tonight.” He told me.
I held out my pinky finger. “You promise?” I asked playfully poking my lip out.
He wrapped his finger around mine and pulled me to him kissing me again. “I got you, but you already knew that.”
I didn’t have shit to do for the rest of the day besides study so that’s all I did.
People wouldn’t have a clue to how difficult this shit really was.
Who would’ve ever known that the nails played such a big part when it came to the rest of our bodies as well.
Since I didn’t feel like cooking when I was done, I went and sat on the porch to enjoy the breeze.
For the first time in a long time, I was truly content, but I didn’t want to get my hopes all up just yet because it seemed like the very minute I got happy, something always happened and caused my world to crumble again.
I wondered if my life would be different had I been born to different parents; that was an answer I’d never get because it was going to be whatever it was going to be.
A few hours later, Mya was honking the horn coming to pick me up.
I almost didn’t know who she was because this time she was in a brand-new Honda Coupe.
I grabbed my purse, made sure I had a couple of dollars, and hopped in.
“Why are you blowing on the horn like a mad lady? Are we going somewhere?” I asked.
She looked at my purse. “If you weren’t sure about going anywhere or not then why did you bring that big ass purse?” She frowned.
“What’s wrong Mya? What happened?” I asked, she was in a bad mood.
“I didn’t come to pick you up, I came to vent real quick about Demond’s ass.” She said.
“What happened?”
“I’m finding all kind of numbers and condoms in his cars and shit. If I’m home, then why does he need condoms in the cars if he isn’t planning on doing shit? Like he’s making sure he’s prepared or something?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “On the real, I’d rather any man be prepared at all times, even if they don’t plan on cheating.”
“Get out Kisha.” She ordered.
“Damn, you putting me out because you didn’t hear what you wanted to hear?” I laughed.
“Yep. Get out.”
I opened the door and did so gladly, but I couldn’t stop laughing. “We’ll try this again another time.” I slammed the door and walked back inside. I was flustered with butterflies feeling like life was normal and this was exactly how it was supposed to be.
