Page 24 of Meek: Chasing That Gangsta Love
I was busy scrubbing everything down so I could prepare for Meek to come home.
I hadn’t left that nigga’s side since the day he went in, and I would forever be here for him.
I still couldn’t believe he actually took a bullet for me and was understanding about it, when I explained my theory on why I think it may have happened.
I was feeling down though, I couldn’t deny that.
I was almost depressed a little because it shouldn’t have ever happened in the first place.
Mya pulled the lasagna from the oven while I cleaned the kitchen. “Stop moving so slow and move faster Kisha! I know he’s ready to come home.”
I stared at her now. “I just don’t know Mya, like I’ve really been feeling a type of way about all of this shit, even his mama blasting me like that.
I try to do the best I can all the time but it’s not enough.
Do you know I even went ahead and put money on Reesie’s books and Meek didn’t even know? ”
“And you’re a better bitch than me because I don’t know if I could’ve done it. It’s not your responsibility; you think she would’ve done that for you?”
I watched her place the foil on top of the pan as the hot melted cheese bubbled on top. “I didn’t do it for her, it wasn’t about her, it was about Meek.”
“Okay, I get it.” She said turning around with her hands on the counter. “And why are you still tripping about what his mama said? Fuck her, she has no room to talk about anything. Did you even tell him?”
“No, I didn’t tell him at all. I don’t want to stress him about bullshit right now.”
“Well, I’ll be glad when you get your spirit back.”
“I’ll be okay.” I told her as someone started knocking on the door.
“You expecting somebody?” She asked tooting her nose up.
“No.” I replied.
She walked to the door and checked the peephole. “Oh shit, it’s Meek’s mama. What you want me to do?”
I wasn’t even sure how she found out where this house was. “Let her in.” I said.
As soon as Mya opened the door the foul spirit Victoria brought with her came right in this house with her. As usual she was dressed ghetto fabulous. “Where is my son?” She asked.
Mya eyeballed her up and down like she wanted to say something. “Hello Victoria.” I spoke trying to be respectful.
“Girl please, no need to be phony with me. I didn’t come for you I came for him since you banned me from coming to the hospital.”
“I didn’t band you.” I frowned. “Your son requested no visits; that’s not my fault.”
“I bet you had something to do with it with your leeching ass.”
Mya pierced her lips together trying her hardest not to say anything, but I had it.
“Bitch, I’m about sick of your shit! Ain’t nobody leeching off of Meek.
Get your ass up out of here with all of that bullshit you talking!
You aren’t shit but a gold-digging ass, coming around when you want something ass, conniving ass bitch!
Meek didn’t even invite you here, bitch you keep inviting yourself so what you really want? ”
She rolled her eyes and tucked her phone in her purse. “I didn’t come to argue with you. Meek needs to get your ass out of here. You’re the one who got my son shot and I’m gonna make sure that shit doesn’t happen again.”
I was so angry my fucking blood was boiling, this bitch was slowly bringing me back to life as I stepped in her personal space.
She stood a foot over me, but I didn’t care.
“I’m not going any damn where and if you don’t believe me then ask the nigga!
He won’t put me out for your trifling ass!
What the fuck you ever done for him, not a fuck thing!
Not shit!” I said pointing my finger in her face.
“I’m not using him nor leeching off of him, I have my own fucking money!
I’ve been there more for him in the ten years I’ve known him then you have in all his years of living! ”
“And he’s still my motherfucking son, bitch.” She hissed.
“Too bad he won’t call you much of a mother, I don’t have shit for you here! Get the fuck out of our house!”
She clutched her bag and rolled her eyes. “I’ll leave, but when he gets here, I’ll be back, trust me!”
“Bitch, carry your ass on! You can keep coming for all I care and won’t shit change!”
She didn’t even bother to say shit else, she walked out leaving Mya to slam the door. “Well, I could’ve tried to break that argument up but at least it brought you back to life.” She said crossing her arms across her chest.
I was breathing so hard, I’m sure I was foaming out the mouth. “Bitch gon’ come in here popping all this shit trying to get on my last nerve!” I wiped the angry tears from my eyes. “I promise I’m going to fuck her up if she keeps fucking with me!”
“Get yourself together Kisha, go get your man and tell him to check his tired ass mama. We did everything preparing for him to come home. Don’t let the devil get you cause I promise it’s not worth it.”
I had to get myself together, the last thing I needed to do was be weak cause Meek didn’t need that right now, but I was definitely going to tell him about his mama. “Let me get myself together, I refuse to let the devil keep taking over my life.”
“I’mma go start the car and stuff. I need to call Demond too.” She grabbed the keys and walked out to whatever she was driving this time.
On the way to the hospital, I was quiet while trying to put a plan together.
I had to take two weeks off of school and dedicate all my time to Meek and I still had another two weeks before I went back.
I made a promise to myself that no matter what I went through I was going to make something of myself against all odds.
When we pulled up, I got myself together and walked in to get Meek with Mya right there with me.
Meek looked like he was just getting off a call and ready to go. “Why you looking like that?” He asked as soon as he turned around.
I smiled and walked to his side. “I’m okay, you ready to go?” I asked.
“You been crying and shit?” He frowned.
Mya grabbed his bag and walked out. “I’ll meet ya’ll downstairs.”
“I’m cool Meek, I promise, let’s go ahead and go home.”
I would tell him when we got in the car; I had to because I’m sure she would show back up and he needed to know about the thick tension in the air.
When we got downstairs, we got situated but I had to run back up and get one more bag with his personal hygiene in it.
I rushed up there and grabbed the bag. On the way out I bumped into the doctor again.
The same one who helped play a part in saving Meek’s life.
He was so fine, I honestly tried to stay away from him this entire time.
“You’re finally out of here, huh?” He smiled.
“Yes.” I smiled.
“He’s very strong, take care of him.”
“I promise I will.” I told him.
“Take care of yourself too. I don’t know what kind of life he lives, but I would hate for a pretty face like yours to be in here in the freezer.”
“He’s not a bad person; you don’t really know about us.” I said. “Thanks for everything Doc.”
“No need for thanks, it’s my job. Take care.” He replied. I nodded my head and turned to walk away. “Damn.” I heard him mumble under his breath causing me to blush.
We were lucky, real lucky because throughout this entire ordeal we only dealt with the police once.
It was proven that Meek was defending himself; we both were cleared.
It was sad that we got judged constantly but I guess that was life.
It was no doubt in my mind that doc thought every other bad thing about Meek’s life over anything positive because of a circumstance.
Mya drove all way to the house and got out when we arrived leaving Meek and I sitting in the Benz truck she drove today.
“So, what’s up Kish, talk to me baby.” He said.
I really didn’t want to stress him but fuck it.
“You’re mom has been coming around since you got shot and it hasn’t been pleasant.
She’s been coming around threatening me and cursing me out.
We got into it bad earlier; the lady even called me a young dick sucker in front of everybody at the hospital and was calling dibs for all of your belongings just in case you didn’t live. ”
He stared out the window. “And you ain’t tell me this?”
“I didn’t want to stress you while you were trying to get better.”
“Who the fuck does she think she is to be coming in my life trying to run shit? How the fuck she even got this address?”
“I really don’t know, but she blames me for you getting shot.”
Meek didn’t respond to that; I wondered why. He assured me over and over that he was perfectly fine and he didn’t blame me.
“You don’t blame me, right?”
“Of course I don’t, I told you that.” He replied.
“How you feeling about us?” I asked him.
“It’s all about us. You know that.” He said finally looking into my eyes. “And thanks for putting that money on Reesie’s books for me. That was some real shit and very thoughtful.”
“You’re welcome baby.”
Mya left a short while after we ate the food and cleaned up so Meek and I could have some alone time. We were both sprawled out on our King size bed watching ‘John Wick’. I had on a sports bra and a pair of panties while Meek lay with his head resting on my thighs.
“How you feeling?” I asked.
“I’m cool baby, I feel perfectly fine and back to normal besides my voice fucking with me from all those tubes. I’m good though.” He said. “Ready to get out of this house.”
“I think you should chill.” I told him. “Take your time.”
“No such thing as chill when its money to be made baby. I gotta get out there and get it.” He said.
“So, if you’ll be slowly moving around then I guess I should just shorten the time that I took off from school.”
“Get back to school Kish, that shit is much more important than anything else. I gotta meet up with Demond tomorrow and see what’s up with these cars. Maybe invest and go half with him and shit. Whatever it takes to get the money.”
I sighed and continued watching the movie. I was hoping to spend time with him, but I understood. I dozed off and woke up the next morning to get back to the basics while Meek did his thing.
