“Royce, start her up,” Sean called, the driver sliding into the driver’s seat.
Sean held the door open for her, making sure she was in before he got in, sliding into the passenger seat next to her.
“To Lo’s,” Sean said, looking down at his phone as the driver pulled into traffic.
“Lo?” she asked, placing a hand on the seat in front of her as Royce braked to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
“Laurenza De Lucio,” Sean said, glancing up at her for a moment before he looked back down at his phone.
“The fashion designer?” she asked, her jaw dropping.
“Yes. She and I were friends in college, and we’ve kept in touch. We help each other out every once in a while, and this is definitely one of those times. She’s expecting us.”
Laurenza De Lucio was one of the top ten up-and-coming fashion designers in New York, her first collection breaking onto the scene last year when it debuted at New York Fashion Week.
“I love her clothes,” she said, grabbing her phone from her purse. “She made this suit last year, and I love it so much!”
She pulled up the purple suit, the fabric a deep, rich purple with large silver buttons. The lining of the jacket was floral with large deep-purple hibiscus.
“The pants even have deep-enough pockets to actually fit stuff.”
“You know, they say if you give women big-enough pockets to fit things, the handbag business would go under,” Sean quipped, his lips ticking up at the side.
“Oh please, it would be just fine. You can't fit everything into your pockets,” she said, tugging open her Dooney and Bourke bag to show him.
“Fair enough,” he replied, glancing into her messy handbag, his attention returning to his phone as they pulled up next to a large storefront.
Erin gasped as she admired the building, the word Lo’s scrawled across the front of the building in large cursive letters.
“I still can't believe she got a brick and mortar already,” she said as Royce held open the door for her.
“Neither can I, but when you go viral, and you get big, I guess this is what happens,” Sean replied, holding his hand out to assist her from the car.
The stiletto of her pump caught the edge of the curb, and she tripped, falling right into Sean’s arms.
“Oh, I’m—”
“It’s all right,” he said. Her eyes drifted up to meet his, and her heart slowed, the pounding in her ears growing loud.
He is so handsome.
His chin was nice and chiseled, his cheekbones perfect, his nose straight and not too big, with the nicest eyebrows she’d ever seen on a man, framing his deep eyes. Even the scruff on his face was handsome in a rugged kind of way.
The best part was his lush, full head of brown hair.
I wish I could just run my fingers through it.
A sigh filled the space between them, and he smiled, bringing her to the realization that she sighed.
Out loud.
A flush covered her face, and she straightened, stepping out of the strong circle of his arms.
“Thank you again,” she said, both of them turning when the large glass doors opened to reveal Laurenza De Lucio.
“Lo,” Sean said, stepping over to hug the tall Italian beauty.
“Sean, are you making ladies trip in front of my store?” she asked, returning his hug.
