“It looks a lot like him,” Sean replied with a shrug.

“I’m such a huge fan!” Erin squealed. Her loose curls bounced around her face in her excitement.

“Come on, it’s our turn,” Sean said, taking her hand.

Erin’s stomach flip-flopped, and she squeezed his hand as he led her to their first marker on the ground.

Lights exploded in front of them, the clicking of shutters filling her ears.

Erin tried to stand like the celebrities she always saw on the internet, her nerves causing her to shake.

Sean leaned over and whispered sweet things in her ear, a smile coming to her face; the tension left her body.

He stepped away from her for a moment so they could take her picture solo, and she straightened her spine, putting on her biggest smile.

They motioned for her to move farther down the carpet, so she did, waiting until he was by her side again before moving down again.

A couple more markers and more photographers later, they were finally inside.

“Erin! Sean!” Laurenza exclaimed, coming over to take their hands. She pressed kisses to each of their cheeks.

“Welcome, welcome. Did you have any trouble out there?” she asked, looking out at the photographers.

“There are so many of them,” Erin said, fanning herself with her hand. She lifted the curls that floated down her back.

“You need a drink,” Laurenza said, waving down a waiter. She plucked a glass of wine from the tray, handed it Erin, and sent the waiter on his way.

“Come on, there’s a few people I want you to meet,” Laurenza said, motioning for them to follow her.

“This is Ricky, my assistant,” she said, the tall, skinny man turning to them.

“Hello,” Erin said, holding out her hand. “I’m Erin Smith.”

“Darling, you look fabulous in that suit!” Ricky said, giving her a kiss on her cheek. He turned to Sean. “Oh my. Lo, who is this handsome man?”

“That is Sean Stephens, Erin’s boyfriend,” Laurenza replied with a giggle.

“The good ones are always straight,” Ricky said with an eyeroll. “But you two are lovely together.”

“Thank you,” Erin replied, taking Sean’s hand.

“You do look fabulous in that suit,” Laurenza said. “Is that my lace crop top?”

“It is,” Erin replied, releasing Sean’s hand to hold the jacket open. “I needed something underneath it, so I was going for a sort of Demi Lovato at the Billboard Music Awards.”

“Well, you nailed it.” Laurenza looked around for a moment, then waved. “Come on, come meet my business partner.”

“Mario Espinoza, meet Sean Stephens and Erin Smith. They’re the two new board members I told you about,” Laurenza said.

A tall man, about Sean’s height, turned around. “Pleasure to meet you both.”

He shook their hands. “I’ve heard quite a bit about you two. Apparently, there are two investment firms doing extremely well, and you two happen to work at them.”

“Thank you for that,” Sean replied. “Just enjoying what we do.”

Mario gave them a look and shook his head.

“Laurenza, did you have a moment to look over those papers I gave you earlier?” Mario asked.
