“Well, it’s for a wonderful, beautiful woman,” he replied, dropping a kiss on her forehead.

“Oh, and I have one more thing,” he said.

“I don't know if I can take any more,” she said, a watery laugh escaping when she hiccupped.

“David has been reprimanded and demoted, effective immediately.”

“Really?” she asked, “They demoted him?”

“They did. Kendall reported him to Mr. Donaldson after the party, and Mr. Donaldson doesn’t take too kindly to men mistreating women like that. He didn’t fire him because he didn’t quite have enough cause, so he just demoted him instead.”

Sean wiggled his brows at her. “That officially makes you a higher rank than him.”

He sighed, his eyes turning serious. “I didn’t know he was harassing the employees to that extent. I feel like this is too little and too late.”

“It’s not, if you make it count,” she said, laying a hand on his chest. “Take steps to change it. Set an example of how to treat people in the office, and others will follow your lead. Show them you aren’t scared of doing the right thing. People will respect you more for it.”

“I will,” he replied, kissing her. “Now, let’s go celebrate you.”

“What do you—ah!” she cried out as he swung her into his arms, her laughter echoing through the apartment as he carried her into the bedroom.
