“I didn’t. I told you I’d get to them later,” she replied, grabbing a glass from a waiter and downing it in one gulp.

“It’s okay, just remember we need them for tomorrow.”

“Mario, I will.” She stared at him.

“All right.” Erin watched Mario’s dark eyes warm as he stared at Laurenza.

“Laurenza, it’s time for the introduction,” Sean said, breaking Mario’s attention from her. Ricky stood waving his arm in their direction.

“Excuse me, you two. I have to go.” She left them with a whirl of her sparkling gold gown.

“If you’ll excuse me, I need to go see about something,” Mario said, leaving them standing alone.

“Is it hot in here, or is it just me?” Erin whispered, taking another sip of her wine.

The lights dimmed, and Laurenza walked onto a nearby stage, drawing everyone’s attention toward her.

“It’s definitely not just you, but you look divine,” Sean whispered.

Erin tugged him behind one of the larger planters that flanked the doorway. Pulling him into her arms, she kissed him, hot and heavy.

“That’s not fair,” he whispered, breaking the kiss.

“I know, but it’s so worth it,” Erin whispered, stepping out from behind the plant as Laurenza’s speech started.

“I’m going to get you,” he whispered.

“I’m counting on it.”

The next morning, Erin plopped onto Sean’s couch, the giant black sectional dipping beneath her.

Opening her laptop, she pulled up a news site, surprised to see her and Sean staring back at her.

“Holy shit,” she whispered, reading the caption underneath.

“Sean!” she called, hopping off the couch and running back into his bedroom that was almost the same size as her apartment.

Sean rolled over, cracking an eye open.

“How are you awake?” he whispered, looking at the clock on his nightstand. “It’s seven A.M. Lo’s party didn’t end until two.”

“I don’t know, honestly,” she replied, sliding onto the bed. “But look! They called us a power couple. And my suit was a huge hit.”

She placed the laptop between them, and he grabbed it, drawing it close to look at it.

“It seems they did,” he replied, setting the computer down.

She shoved her glasses up her nose, and he smiled. “You look adorable this morning.”

“I don’t,” she replied, patting the messy bun. “I’m a mess.”

“No,” he replied, pulling her glasses from her face and tossing them onto the nightstand, the laptop joining them a moment later. He tugged her onto him, burying his face into her neck. “You look amazing.”

Erin’s squeal ended on a sigh as Sean pulled the covers over them.
