Page 25 of Falling For My Assistant
Erin’s jaw dropped, and she went to step away, halted by his arm snaked around her waist.
“Was that you?” He took a deep breath, breathing her in. “I remember your perfume from that night.”
Shivers slid down her spine, his deep whisper resonating through her.
He clearly knew it was her. He was just waiting for confirmation.
“Yes,” she murmured, placing her free hand on his chest.
His heart pounded beneath her hand, the rhythm matching the racing of her own.
Sean set his drink down on the sill, the ice ball clinking against the walls of the glass. Her cosmo and clutch joined his old fashioned, and he stepped forward, backing her up against the wall.
A soft gasp slipped past her lips when he pressed his body firmly against her, his hard cock on her thigh.
Goosebumps spread across her arms, the warmth that filled her not coming from the heat lamps.
With her heels on, she was level with his eyes, heat radiating from his chocolate depths.
Her breath caught when he nuzzled her ear with his nose and feathered kisses across her cheek.
Sean’s lips teased her, her hands tightening on the lapels of his jacket.
She’d just pulled him flush against her to kiss him when voices penetrated their bubble.
With a quiet curse, Sean put some distance between them, handing her the cosmo just as Sean’s friend and co-worker appeared with his wife in tow.
“Sean!” he exclaimed, holding out his hand for Sean to shake.
Sean took it with a firm shake. “David.”
He turned to David’s wife. “Kristen, how are you? David didn't tell me you two would be here.”
Kristen gave Sean a kiss on the cheek. “You know David can't remember anything unless I write it down for him.”
The foursome laughed, and Kristen held out her hand to Erin. “And who might you be? You’re definitely not Blair.”
Erin took her hand. “My name is Erin. I’m Sean’s girlfriend.”
Saying the words felt weird, but Erin wasn't as uncomfortable as she thought she would be saying them.
A funny look came over David’s face, but it quickly disappeared, suspicion settling in her stomach. David reached out to her, and she shook his hand. He didn't immediately release her hand, instead staring deep into her eyes.
Momentary panic set in.
Does he recognize me?
He always ignored her when he came to see Sean. Plus, she looked quite different than she did now.
She had caught him staring at her a few times at the office, though.
Erin sent up a small prayer that he wouldn’t recognize her and blow their cover.
“David,” Kristen said, elbowing him in the side.
He smiled at Erin, then brushed a kiss on the back of her hand before he let go.
Erin put her hand behind her back, wiping it off.
