Story: Rescuing Barbi
“I went back to that club every fucking night.” Alec’s hoarse voice heats. “Looking for you. Wanting you. Needing to feel you again. Taste you. Fuck you.”
My throat tightens at his words, and I can’t help but wonder what kind of hold he has over me. It was just sex in a club, a one-time fling in a seedy bar bathroom.
Nothing more.
Yet here I am, wanting him more than anything else in the world.
“I couldn’t go back.” My voice shakes as I try to resist him, but he knows he’s going to win.
The battle’s already been fought and won.
By him.
I won’t lie, but I have to be careful with the truths I tell.
“Why not?” he demands softly.
“Don’t ask me that.” My voice shakes. Something tells me to never lie to this man.
“And why not?” His breath ghosts over my lips.
“Because…” My voice trails off as panic claws at my insides.
What am I supposed to say? I told him I wouldn’t lie. The truth, however, scares me. Am I supposed to tell him I’m scared of how much power he wields over me? How I crave the dominance he exudes? That when I think about him, my heart races? That I crave him with unbearable hunger?
“I see.” He towers over me like a predator stalking its prey. The heat of his body sends electrical ripples racing down my spine.
When he tips his head forward, touching our foreheads together, heat sears my skin. When his hand slips beneath my shirt, that heat turns into an effusive blaze.
Is Alec dangerous?
Hell yes.
Is he something I’ll regret?
Hell if I know.
One thing’s for certain, I’m no longer stuck in limbo.
He’s here.
Right now.
Invading my space.
Deepening my breaths.
Making me want him in the worst possible way.
I can’t deny the pull between us, or the way I gasp at his touch.
“I appreciate you not lying to me.” His voice is thick with need as he whispers in my ear. “I have only one more thing to ask.”
My heart stops as he looks deeply into my eyes, and I know exactly what he’s going to say next. The question hangs between us, suffocating me with its weight.
“I don’t know how you worked your way under my skin, but I can’t stop thinking about you. Wanting you.”
“Alec—please. Don’t.”
