Story: Rescuing Barbi
Everything’s changing, and I don’t like it.
“Don’t go.” Kaye hugs Carmen next. “We’ll make a run for it.”
“In four-inch heels?” Carmen’s laugh is strained. “Ladies…” She grabs our hands and pulls us in for a group hug. “Promise you’ll tell me everything you get up to tonight.”
“I promise.” Kaye wipes away a tear.
“Promise you’ll call?” I squeeze her hand. “I don’t want to lose touch.”
“I promise. We won’t.”
“I’ll keep you to that promise.” I wrap her in my arms for a hug ten times tighter than the one before because I’ll probably never see Carmen again.
I’m losing her, and by the end of the summer, I’ll lose Kaye as well. Then it’ll just be me.
I hate everything about that.
Together, Kaye and I watch Carmen go.
“I can’t believe her father did that.” I prop my arms over my chest, watching Carmen leave. “He couldn’t give her the night? One lousy night?”
“He’s such an ass.” Kaye stands beside me, equally enraged.
“And a buzzkill for our night.” I loop an arm around Kaye’s shoulder.
“But we can still have fun.” Kaye takes my hand. “Let’s run home, ditch the graduation gowns, and see who can wear the sluttiest dress tonight.”
“Oh, you know I’m going to win.”
I’ve got the best spray-on dresses, tits that torment, and the hourglass figure to pull it off. Unlike Carmen, who loves her four-inch heels, I wear flats, which are vastly superior in my mind.
“You on the hunt tonight?” Kaye whips out her phone and gets us a ride.
“Aren’t I always?”
“You really should get a man.”
“Why? They’re needy, and I haven’t met a man yet who knows how to take care of himself. I’m not saddling myself with that kind of baggage. All I need is a well-functioning dick.”
“Lord, you and the way you talk about men’s dicks. You objectify them.”
“It’s the best part of them and the only part I want anything to do with. The whole lovey-dovey relationship thing is draining.”
Men complicate life. Turn something easy into something burdensome and exhausting. I don’t need a man to make my life complete, but I do need his dick.
A girl’s got needs.
“You can’t call yourself a feminist and be offended by men objectifying you if you turn around and objectify them right back.”
“Why not?”
“It’s hypocritical. You’re doing exactly the same thing that you hate.”
“I call it fair play. You know what they say; all’s fair in love and war.”
“I don’t think anyone actually ever said that, and you don’t know what you’re missing by avoiding healthy relationships. There are plenty of good men in the world.”
“Tell me again how uncomplicated your relationship is with your professor?”
“Don’t go.” Kaye hugs Carmen next. “We’ll make a run for it.”
