Story: Cory Sloan is Swearing
“You’re not mad?”
“No, Cory. I’m not mad. The funny thing is, I was going to stay and watch your game anyway. I looked forward to your attempts to run into me,” Vi said.
“Aren’t we a pair.” Cory laughed.
“Look, you found a way for us to give this a go. I was serious about helping you with the country club account. I’d love for us to work together.”
“No work talk, Violet. I appreciate it and will talk to you about the account to-mor-row,” Cory said, stringing the word out to make a point.
Vi laughed. “Got it.”
“Hey, I need you to know that Krista and Melanie were at the engagement party last night and they are preparing a beach side picnic for us.”
“Oh my God! I can’t believe I forgot to ask you about the proposal! I was about to then there were more pressing issues,” Vi said, pressing her lips to the back of Cory’s hand once again.
Cory chuckled. “I wanted to kiss you as soon as I saw you, but I thought that might be a bit pushy.”
“No holding back, right?”
“Right.”
“Tell me about the proposal,” Vi said.
“It was awesome. They were so happy and when all their friends walked into that back room Alexis was so surprised.”
“Aww, that sounds so sweet.”
“It was. When I saw Krista and Melanie they asked me how things were going with you,” Cory explained.
“What? They remembered me?”
“Of course they did. Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?” Cory said, glancing at Vi once again.
Vi looked at Cory and shyly smiled.
“They were very excited when I told them you were coming with me today and off they went,” Cory said.
“What does that mean?”
“You know the lake resort is for romance. That’s what they do. So when I told them this was our first date they wanted to do something special for us.”
“Wow, that’s really nice.”
“They say Lovers Landing has magical powers,” Cory said.
“Oh?”
“Mmhmm.”
“I’m ready if you are,” Vi said and grinned at Cory as she pulled into the parking lot.

“Let me help,” Vi said as she stacked a case of beer onto the box already on the dolly.
“Thanks,” Cory said, putting another box on top of that one.
“I’d be happy to make deliveries with you when I’m not in the office,” Vi said.
