Page 98 of Uprising
He shudders. “I’ll get her.” He replies.
“Good. And tell Roman there’s a drop, a new delivery of drugs coming in this week. It’s coming through the ports. Darius is making sure there’s a big security detail because he’s nervous after all the attacks.”
He nods but I can see he’s not okay. I can see there’s something there, something breaking in him too.
“Ty?”
“Leave it.” He growls.
Only I won’t. I grab his arm forcing him to look at me. “Why the fuck are you so wound up?” I ask.
“Sofia…” He murmurs.
I screw my face up. What the fuck does she have to do with Ty? I don’t think their paths have ever even crossed. He’s only muttered her name in the past to spit insults.
“I love her Rose alright.” He snaps.
“What?”
“I love her.” He growls. “I fucking love her and they’re…” He trails off turning his back on me before turning straight back around. “I asked Darius, I begged him to give me her. I wouldn’t have touched her, I would have protected her, kept her safe. Only he wouldn’t. He said he’d promised Otto he could have her. Promised his cousin first dibs as if she’s a fucking piece of meat.”
He slams his fist into the balustrade.
“Does she know?” I ask.
He doesn’t reply. He just stares out, looking like he’s cursing the entire world right now.
“Ty, does she know?” I ask grabbing hold of him.
“No.” He says. “She doesn’t have a fucking clue.”
“Then how can you love her?” I ask.
He scowls at me. “That’s coming from you? You, who slept with Roman Montague, you who had a secret child that no one even knew about?”
I don’t know how to reply to that. I don’t know what to say.
He slumps. And for a minute I think he might even cry. “I can’t leave her like that. I won’t fucking leave her like that.”
“Then get her out.” I snap.
He looks at me with an awful look on his face. “Your dear loverboy won’t let me.”
“What?”
“He doesn’t want to blow his cover. He’s got some sort of plan and he’s sticking to it come what may.”
My heart sinks. I trust Roman. I really do but he can’t be that inflexible. Not when his sister’s life is on the line.
“Then tell him that you’re doing it. Force his hand.” I snap.
He shakes his head. “I can’t…”
“If you love her then you would.” I say playing the only card I have.
I need them to get Sofia out, I need them to rescue her. Not only will it help relieve my guilt but once that’s done I can focus better on me, focus on bringing Darius down without worrying how Otto might take revenge on Sofia if I am successful.
He throws me a look like he wants to punch something, like he wants to seriously fuck someone up and I’ve got a good idea of exactly who.
