Fisting the back of Blake’s messy ponytail, I curl my fingers through her luscious locks and drink from her mouth like I’ll die of thirst if I don’t.

I’ve been wrestling all fucking morning, wondering if I can somehow make this work.

What if we got back to Nolan and walked into the house holding hands?

What if I walked right up to Wily and told it to him straight?

“Your sister is the best sex I’ve ever had. She’s fun and smart, and I love spending time with her.”

But do you love her?

The question trips me up every time.

After only a week? That’s too soon, too fast.

Teah still beats in my chest cavity. She was the girl I thought I’d marry, and the bruises from her sudden breakup are still tender.

Ripping her mouth off mine, she pushes me back, and I’m forced to let her go, to release her hair and create some space between us.

It’s only then that I hear the sound of chatter on the trail up ahead.

Straightening my pack and adjusting the semi that has quickly grown in my pants, I force a smile and move forward, turning back to the parking lot just ahead.

The group catches up to us quickly, and we share the standard greetings.

“How’s it going? Good conditions on the trail?”

“Yeah, it’s been a great few days.”
