“Now it’s your turn to promise me something,” he said.
“What?” I asked warily.
“We’ll never spend a night apart again—not because of anger, anyway.”
“Promise.”
“Missed you,” he murmured, his head descending.
“We haven’t even had a proper rendezvous. Two weeks apart and—”
Flynn scooped me up into his arms and carried me to the bedroom. Gently settling me down on the bed, his body blanketed mine. His mouth grazed my lips, my cheek, my neck as he worked my T-shirt off me. He quickly divested himself of his suit and he threw it to the floor. His fingertips glided down my body. Heat began to build inside of me as his hands cupped my breasts, his thumbs teasing my nipples. They were so tender. Growling, I arched into him. His mouth covered a nipple, taking it between his teeth, sucking lightly.
“God, Flynn,” I moaned, my eyes rolling back into my head as I savored the sensations.
My hands sank into his hair, my legs falling open to cradle him against me. I was wet and wanting, needy, greedy and more than ready for him.
As he slid into me, I gasped in blissful agony. He took me gently, but no less eager. He wrapped a strong arm underneath me, bringing me closer to him.
“Legs. Around me,” he said in a guttural tone.
I did as bid. He sank deeper, and together, we climbed higher and higher until we both came with a shattering release. He nearly collapsed on top of me and his breath fanned my skin. I hugged him to me, wanting his weight, but he refused to give it to me. Slowly, he disentangled from me, rolling onto the bed, propping himself up on his side. His hand came to rest on my belly before he leaned over to kiss it. I smiled.
“While that was very much needed, I’m afraid we can’t lounge around. Allen Masterson is meeting us in the lobby in an hour.”
Reluctantly, I got out of bed and headed back toward the bathroom. “I wanted to run an idea by you.”
He followed me into the bathroom, and I turned on the shower, waiting a few seconds for it to adjust before stepping into the hot water. “It would be easier to talk to you if you were in here with me,” I purred.
“Don’t tempt me more than I already am. Or we’ll never get to our meeting on time,” he teased.
I shut the glass door of the shower and talked through it. “You owe me one long honeymoon,” I said. “Where we don’t have to get dressed if we don’t want to.”
“Barrett,” he growled.
I laughed. “Okay, Flynn. I’ll focus. I think I have an idea of how to settle this thing with Winters. I want your opinion. And if you like the idea, then we should run it by Masterson and see what he says.”
“I’m all ears.”
Chapter 59
Flynn shook Masterson’s hand and said, “Thanks for coming.” He gestured for the high-profile attorney to sit at our designated table in The Rex Hotel Bar and Restaurant.
“Mrs. Campbell,” Masterson greeted.
“Barrett, please,” I corrected.
We sat down, my stomach growling. Flynn put a discreet hand to my belly and gestured for the waiter. He approached immediately. I ordered breakfast while the two gentlemen ordered lunch. I didn’t think I could wait for food, so I asked for a breadbasket and then turned my attention back to Masterson, who sat across from us.
“Barrett had a great idea for how to get Winters off our back, but before we go ahead with it, we’d like your professional and legal council.”
Masterson smiled, showing white teeth. The man didn’t appear relaxed. Like most powerful men, he seemed to be at the ready for anything to jump out at him. His power was familiar, and I was glad for it. I quickly explained my idea, trying to gauge his reaction. He gave me nothing.
When I was finished, he took a sip of his mineral water and said, “It’s risky, for sure. And I like risk. We don’t know what kind of blowback to expect. However”—his dark eyes seemed to twinkle—“I think it’s a great idea—and it will tie up Winters for a long time.”
“That’s what we’re hoping for,” Flynn said.
“I suggest you take care of it as soon as possible,” Masterson said. “I wouldn’t put it past Winters to get an arrest warrant.”
