Page 110 of Sins of a King
“FBI.”
Flynn cursed.
I told him everything that had happened with the FBI agent, and I didn’t leave anything out. Flynn’s face remained passive, and he watched me with cool blue eyes.
“Is it true?” I asked. “Are you part of the SINS?”
“If I am?”
“I came here to tell you, didn’t I?” I got up off the couch. I needed to move, pace, clear my head. “The casino and the brothel…that was one thing. Guns? Really?”
He nodded slowly.
“It’s all in the name of this political cause, isn’t it?”
“Aye,” he said. “Now that you know, what will you do? Work with the feds? Turn me in? Bring down Malcolm?” His body was tight with tension as if he genuinely didn’t know which way I was leaning.
I whirled and stared at him. “Fuck him. He doesn’t touch what’s mine.”
Flynn’s eyes gleamed with pride.
“I’m on your side, Flynn. I’ll always be on your side. You asked me to trust you and I do. I’m not sure how to reconcile everything I know, but I’m with you, Flynn. I promise.”
He stood up and stalked toward me. Reaching out, he cupped my face in his hands. He didn’t say anything. He just kissed me before pulling back. “I got this.”
“How?” I whispered. “There are so many—”
“Do you have faith in me?” he cut me off.
“Yes.”
“Do you have faith in you?”
My brow furrowed. “Yes.”
He smiled. “Then have faith we’ll figure this out. All of it. Together.”
Jason and Brad did a sweep of Flynn’s suite and came up empty. No bugs. Once it was deemed that we had privacy, I reiterated all that had occurred with Fred Winters, barely pausing to even take a breath. Brad’s jaw clenched in fury—his reaction made me strangely relieved because it meant Flynn had a man at his back. Jason was quiet, but I could still make out the anger in his eyes. Someone had gotten to me, and he blamed himself.
So many players in this game, and I had gone from measly pawn to a more powerful rook. Two men wanted to bring down Flynn—for entirely different reasons. I couldn’t let either of them succeed.
Brad and Flynn talked in low tones, but I wasn’t paying attention, lost in my own head. “Have the jet readied,” Flynn said to Brad, jarring me from my silence.
I raised my eyebrows. “We’re taking that vacation early, huh?”
Flynn grinned but shook his head.
“So why are you readying the jet?”
Brad and Flynn exchanged a look and then Brad said, “Come on, Jason. We’ve got a few things to do.” Brad and Jason left the penthouse, and Flynn and I were alone.
“You’re not going to take me somewhere and make me hide out in a bunker, are you? Because hiding won’t solve anything,” I said, gearing up for a debate.
“I agree,” he said calmly.
“Then—”
“Las Vegas.”
