Regardless, Mietek was right.
We had to clean this up.
Then I would descend to Hell to find my mate.
And when I did, I’d make sure she knew she was mine.
For eternity.
Kay
I paced my bedroom,my wings dragging along the floor behind me.
It’d been three months since I’d last seen Ezra.
I’d expected him to arrive with my Royal Guard, but Jinx had brought everyone back to my father’s realm except my mate.
Because he’d ascended rather than descended.
I’d attempted to follow him, to track him down and demand an explanation, but my teleportation abilities were still developing. I only seemed able to portal through the various realms in Hell, not up to Earth or higher to Heaven.
Which left me waiting for him to come to me.
A nagging presence in my mind wondered if he’d left me here again. My purpose was done. I’d saved his precious Divinity, right?
But my soul refused to give that dark voice much credence.
He’s coming for me,I thought.I can feel it.
I just wished I could hear him. However, something was blocking me.
It’d better not be you blocking me, Ezra,I told him.Or I seriously will kill you.
Because I refused to be used and abandoned twice.
A knock at my door had my heart leaping out of my chest.
Only to plummet at the sight of Yaz on the other side.
He smirked. “Happy to see you, too, Princess.”
“Sorry,” I muttered, my skirts swishing as I turned back into my room to go toward the balcony doors at the back. “I’m just irritated and bored.”
“We could go piss off Alastor again?” Yaz suggested, referring to our antics from last week where I figured out how to enter the Archdemon’s realm without invitation via my new powers. His guard had come running, just for Alastor to wave them all off upon realizing it was only me. “He still technically owes you a blade.”
“He does,” I agreed. The bastard had claimed not to have it when we’d gone for a visit.Lying bastard.
I leaned against the obsidian stone balcony wall, my gaze scouring the familiar buildings of my father’s realm. “I assume you’re not actually here to distract me,” I said, glancing at the Head of my Royal Guard. “Did you need something?”
His blue-brown eyes sparkled. “No. I came to tell you that I found out more about the cuffs.”
My mood immediately brightened. “Oh? Did you find out what Scion meant about it beingdivinemagic?” Because that didn’t make sense to me, especially not with my new ties to the Divinity. And when I’d asked Johanna about it, she’d also had no idea what I’d meant.
“They’re created from a mix of demon and angel magic,” Yaz said. “That’s what he meant bydivine. The metal comes from the Chrysus region of Hell. And an angel is the one who enchants it.”
My eyebrows rose. “The Chrysus region?” That was nearly impossible to reach, even by Archdemons. It was an area of Hell made almost entirely of gold and protected by shimmering Sprite demons. I’d never attempted to visit, as it wasn’t a recommended experience.
“Yep.”
