Page 20 of Not Afraid to Trust Again

“You better hurry up,” I moaned softly in Kyden’s ear as he slowly stroked my insides.

“I got you.” He groaned. His strokes sped up as I gripped his back.

In a matter of minutes, we would be interrupted, so he needed to make it quick, or he’d be walking around with blue balls for the rest of the day.

He kissed me and ground his hips into me. I felt myself getting wetter, and my toes curled underneath the sheet. A few strokes later, we reached our peaks at the same time. Right on cue, loud cries wailed through the baby monitor. Kyden pulled out of me and kissed my lips.

“Get yourself cleaned up real quick. I’ll bring her in because you know she’s hungry.”

“Okay.”

I watched him climb out of the bed and put his pajama pants on as the cries got louder. When Kyden left the room, I got out of bed then walked to the en suite.

A year or so had passed since we ran into his ex-wife, and things couldn’t have been better. I officially met his ex-wife when we ran into her and her family one day while we were shopping. She turned out to be nice. We didn’t have any issues with each other.

The night we agreed to try again for another baby, I ended up pregnant.

It was like the universe and God knew we had to resolve our issues before we brought a baby into the world.

We kept it a secret for as long as we could, but once I started to show, we had to tell everyone.

In the beginning, I was so afraid of losing the baby again, but Kyden would reassure me every single time I panicked that things would work out.

In the bathroom, I quickly used the toilet and washed up before I went back into the bedroom to put on my pajamas.

A minute later, Kyden came into the bedroom carrying our three-month-old daughter, Kaylee. My baby girl was a perfect combination of her father and me, and I loved her so much.

“You know she’s ready to eat,” Kyden said as he passed her to me.

I took her from his arms and kissed her chubby cheeks. “Hey, baby girl.”

She moved her head near my breast, so I lifted my shirt and helped her latch on.

In the beginning, she wouldn’t take to my breasts, but the nurses at the hospital helped me.

I wanted to breastfeed for as long as I could because it helped me bond with her.

I wanted to enjoy it while I could because I wasn’t sure if I would have another baby.

I didn’t have any issues with her, but I didn’t want to take the chance of another loss.

Only time would tell. Until another one came along, I would cherish the moments I had with my baby.

I looked up to find Kyden staring at us, and I smiled.

“I love to see you in mommy mode and feeding our baby from those pretty ass titties.” He winked.

“You’re so fresh. I love seeing you in daddy mode too.”

Kyden was such a hands-on father. With the exception of breastfeeding, he did everything he possibly could. Whenever I had to feed her and he was home, he would sit and talk to me until she was done. He would burp her most times after feeding, and he changed her diapers often.

“You know everyone is coming over today, right?”

I took my eyes off the baby to look at her father.

“That’s today?”

Lately, it had been feeling like all my days ran together, so I had no clue what day it was.

Kyden chuckled. “Yes, that’s today. Good thing I did everything. The only thing you have to do is get dressed and chill. I got everything covered.”

He leaned over and kissed my cheek.

“Thank you.” I smiled at him.

He had taken a few weeks off from work, and we developed such a good routine that I wasn’t sure what I would do once he went back to work.

I wasn’t scheduled to go back to work until Kaylee was at least six months old, but a small part of me didn’t want to go back at all.

I hadn’t mentioned it to Kyden, but I was certain he wouldn’t be against it if I didn’t.

Both sides of our families were going to chip in and help out when I went back, but I didn’t want to miss a moment of her life. I was obsessed with my baby, and I probably would be until she started walking. I giggled at the thought.

“What’s funny?” Kyden asked then took the baby from me when she was finished eating.

I pulled my shirt down and lay my head on his shoulder.

“I was thinking about how I am now with Kaylee and how she’s going to be by the time she starts walking. I was also thinking I don’t think I want to go back to work when my time is up.”

Kyden tapped the baby on her back but looked over at me.

“Don’t.”

He said it like it was so simple, and that’s how life had been for the last year—simple. There was nothing I had to think about, except for what I wanted to eat at times.

“Just like that?”

“Yes. Just like that,” Kyden responded.

I wasn’t sure if I would still have a job if I extended my leave, so I would have to think about it a little longer.

Kyden and I sold our houses and bought one together that we both picked out.

We agreed that since our relationship had started from scratch, we would build new memories in a new house from scratch.

We ended up picking a four-bedroom house, just in case we had more children.

“What if I never went back?”

“Then you don’t go back.”

He moved Kaylee to his side then kissed the side of my head.

“I got us. If you want to be a stay-at-home mom, then do that. If you want to wait to go back to work, then do that. Whatever you want to do, do it. I’m going to support you and be there no matter what you choose.”

“You make life so easy.”

“That’s my job. I’m going to put her down then come back and help you wash your back.” He winked at me.

I already knew what he would try to do. Almost every time we took a shower together, we ended up having sex. Having a newborn made intimate moments difficult at times, so we had to improvise in any way we could.

“I’ll keep the water warm for you.”

When Kyden left the room, I made the bed then went into the bathroom again to shower. I let the water cascade over my body as I waited for Kyden to enter. It didn’t take long before I heard the bathroom door open, and I watched him put the baby monitor on the sink.

As soon as he got in, he kissed me, and we had sex in the shower before we washed up and got out.

Once we were done, we relaxed for a while before our company came.

A few hours later, we sat in the living room with our families and friends.

We kept Kaylee to ourselves, so no one from the family had seen her in person.

We sent plenty of pictures, but I wanted to be as careful as possible.

Our families respected our decision, but I knew they were anxious to meet her.

“She is so precious, Sis,” Janae gushed as she held Kaylee in her arms. “And that baby smell.”

She sniffed her neck and closed her eyes.

“She really is.”

I made sure everyone washed their hands when they came in so they all would get a chance to love on her.

Kaylee slept peacefully as they passed her around. I made it known I didn’t want anybody kissing her face, and they all obliged.

After everyone got a turn to hold her, we ate the food Kyden had delivered. We didn’t have a big enough dining room table, so everyone ate wherever they sat.

I excused myself to feed Kaylee when she woke up to eat again. When I was done, I left her in her room so she could sleep without being overstimulated. I made sure I grabbed the baby monitor before heading back downstairs.

I stopped in my tracks when I reached the bottom of the steps to find Kyden down on one knee and everyone standing around with their phones and smiles on their faces.

“Come here, Elise,” Kyden commanded.

It felt like my body floated over to him. My heart raced the closer I got to him. When I was close enough, he grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it.

“Elise, I would have never imagined the day I met you that you would become the most important person in my life.” He looked over his shoulder. “Sorry, Kaleb.”

Everyone around us laughed.

“I love you with every fiber of my being. Every day, I pray that I am being a good partner and lover for you. You’ve already blessed me with the most precious little girl, and the only way to make this even better is if you would agree to be my wife.”

“Yes!” I cried out.

Kyden slid the ring on my finger then stood to kiss me. The cheers of our family faded away as we shared a passionate kiss.

The path to our forever wasn’t perfect, and for a while, I had lost my trust in all men, including Kyden, but he put in the work to make me not afraid to trust again.

The End!
