“Falcon! He’s taking off. I’ll get Security up there to wait for McCabe.” Hade is yelling in my fucking ear.
Flying down the road I yell back, “You’re in our ear, Brother, calm the fuck down!”
“Sorry, Boss. I got Security in town moving to Seren. Beacon is still with her.” Since that doesn’t settle me, I ride faster.
“Roger.”
“What’s going on, Boss?” Raid asks.
“Bar was shot up with intent. Two deputies at the table I knew weren’t making it before they left. You and Brinks knew it. Pull their apps in case we need to find them.”
“Got it, Boss.” His mic clicks in my ear.
“Boss, we got a green pickup and red Camaro barreling in from the north. Enforcers from here aren’t making it to intercept. I’ve got Security in town moving with Seren,” Web tells me like it’s an option to pull them off her.
“Where is she?”
He takes more seconds than I have patience. “Moving toward her shop. Security is with her. We don’t have anyone else close enough to stop them.”
“Keep Security withherandget her in the fucking building! The cooler!” I round the corner pulling my gun on a woman yelling at me.
“The truck and car could be kids, Boss.” Web thinks they’re joyriding?
“They’re not.”
Raid clicks back in. “They aren’t making the shop. You got two blocks, take the right alley. It puts you right in front of them.” I hear arguing in the background.
Jesus Fuck! “Falcon, take this one and come around.” I point the alley out with my gun.
“Roger, Boss.” The Brother can ride.
Turning into the alley, I hit the throttle quick then brake when I’m close to the corner. Security is herding Seren toward me. Just seeing her slows my heart rate. Security boxes her in against the building. I move almost at an idle waiting for one of the vehicles. I get the Camaro slamming his brakes on right in front of me. Fucking gun out the back and he thinks it’s joyriders. Two shots and the car is rolling. Beacon runs by with his gun aimed and stops it. I’m waiting for the truck.
“Falcon?” I hear shots down further and gun it. “Keep Seren covered and right the fuck there, Raid.”
“Clear, Boss.” Hearing Falcon, I relax.
He’s right in front of Seren’s with the other Enforcer team. “Do you see what the fuck just happened? You want to play like I’m a distraction toyourfucking jobs, fine. Do NOT second guessmeon the fucking job! They were not fucking joyriders! Get your fucking shit together and cover the town and my ol’ lady like they fucking matter! Because they matter to me!” I talk right over their noise. “Raid, get someone on the fucking paper and IDs. I don’t see cleanup.”
“Roger, they’re at the Camaro now.”
“One? We have two vehicles. Is cleanup at the bar?”
“Not yet, Boss. Trask is just pulling in.”
Fucking Brothers. “Cover Ops with our best. Let them know we are on high and to get cleanup moving to where they need to be. I want every fucking Officer here now!”
“Falcon, I want Beacon, Sharp and Vick here.”
Rogers come in but I ignore them. If I wasn’t expecting more, I’d shut off my piece. I ride back to Seren.
Security still has her in the alley. She’s leaning against the building looking relaxed, but her stance and the way she’s watching the mouth of the alley tells me she’s alert to trouble and she’s not happy.
Sliding back, I tell her, “Get on.” I look at the Brothers. “Follow.”
She sits in front of me and I take her to the pizzeria feeling her body shaking. Since I’m not letting her go, I carry her into the office.
Sitting her on my lap, I just start talking. “The detective that called the state in for the fraudulent reports was fired with a few others. Someone is trying to keep the information from getting out. The bar was hit by automatic fire just before the try for you. Rex is fine and covered by Security. I hired the detective and he’s up there too. He won’t stop digging, so high alert is where you’re staying. I need answers.”
