Finding an open section in the shade, I sit on the dock waiting for the Brothers to stop shooting or the truck to be loaded. I pull my email and see the same thanks that were there earlier so I work on an answer.
It quiets causing my feet to move. I’m no closer to an answer making it a quick and easy change of focus. The Brothers are standing around talking shit and laughing when I get to them.
I smile, the truck will never be used again. The whole fucking box is caved in with holes on the side. I can see holes spelling pussy. They’re talented Brothers. “I love what you’ve done with it.” They laugh some more. I get the guy’s wallet and read the name for Vick. I should have done this sooner. “Find me his brothers.”
With a roger, I thank the Brothers telling them I’m delivering the truck to Seren when it’s done loading. They decide to wait and escort. This will be fun.
“Boss!” Jinx yells jogging my way.
I smile waiting for him to get to me. I’m just fucking with him and his smile says he knows it. When he stops in front of me, I answer. “Yeah.” The Brothers laugh.
“The truck is set. I left nervous-Nelson guarding it.”
I walk. “Good job, another fucking thing happening to her order and she’ll come beat down their asses.”
He stops and looks at me. “You should let her. The Brothers would pay to see that.”
Shaking my head, I keep moving. “Not her job, Jinx. She’s running her dream just happy she gets to use her mom’s recipes. She’s not scheming to get rich quick or get her name on billboards. She’s just trying to live her happy and help where she can. My job is to make sure she gets to.”
The nervous boss holds out keys. “You got the pussy?” I ask since he isn’t talking.
“We’ll deal with him.”
“If he becomes my problem again, I’ll come look for answers from you. Make sure Seren’s orders go with someoneyoutrust from now on.”
With his head bobbing, I hit his shoulder and leave him a smile. Climbing in, I notice it’s a well taken care of cab. “This is nice. The Brothers are riding escort.”
Jinx likes that. “We should have called some when we were leaving town.”
“Yeah. Vick, we’re moving.”
“Roger, Boss.”
Jinx laughs, “It must be killing him to keep to those two words.”
We banter back and forth with bikes stopping traffic when it strikes them or riding in circles around us at lights. Jinx is into pissing off Vick today. I’ll have to buy the Brother a drink for putting up with us.

Two Prospects come in and wait at the pass-thru. I check the time. My guys are scheduled for another three hours. Pulling off my gloves, I move their way seeing the supply truck go by the window. “You’re here for Cort?”
“Yes, ma’am. We were told to help unload.” The tall Brother says. He must be Samoan, but he has light coloring like Cort.
“Thanks for the help. I let my truck help go half an hour ago.” They follow as I walk. Beacon follows us all back.
“We’re happy to help, ma’am. You use FIFO?” The smaller guy has me smiling.
“I do. I’m a bit of a stickler about it. I write dates that aren’t easily read on the boxes so I’m not killing people. Dead people don’t eat.”
He laughs. “Anything else?”
“No open containers or bags. Dates and rotate stock. Watch the alarm on the door. If the light goes on, close the door and wait for it to go off. It doesn’t happen unless the door is propped. Don’t prop the door.” I push open the back door. Beacon is right behind me, then in front of me, as the truck backs up. I turn back to the Prospects and shrug. Bikes are loud coming from the side lot.
The taller one nods looking agreeable. “All things we know and understand the reasoning. We’ve got this.” He looks at his partner. “We get the stuff in and the door secured, then I’ll work the cooler while you bring dated stock.”
The small Brother looks at me. “The marker for dates?”
