“I haven’t been home.” Today is Friday? No, it’s Thursday. He finished early. I’ll need to change the code.
He holds his hand up and reaches for a tablet with the other. “I took pictures for my book.”
I don’t take offense to him stopping me and swipe through, happy to see he didn’t clutter up my space. “Fucking nice. I like that it’s not overdone.”
“You didn’t strike me as materialistic. I’ll add a discount for bringing us more customers.”
“Thanks. We have a couple more to go. Add the discount to Jinx and Brinks when they show.”
He types their names and smiles. “I will.” He looks around me. “Who’s first?”
Raid points to the tablet. “Show me what you did at Cort’s.”
While he scrolls through, Amos and Brinks pick furniture.
I check email, switch the code on my house and call to get the garage door fixed. With nothing else to do, I think about Seren. Her name alone has me smiling. My smile falls with the thought of her stalker. Web pulled his information from the report she filed. Hade will ride with me tomorrow to talk to him. The Brothers got an alert to keep watch and she has Club protection. My Officers threw in for her after listening to Rex’s account of the trouble he’s witnessed and her father’s concern. Raid will talk with Trask McCabe about her father’s ‘accident.’ My need to cover her worries me. Maybe it’s that I want to cover her in bubble wrap.
Thank God Amos and Banks are done and happy. I focus on something other than my lame ass needs for a while.
Jr. asks Raid for pictures.
“Do like Cort’s. Furniture that fits and decorate it to work. Dark wood in the master. Everything else is your call.”
I laugh walking out. At least I looked at what cowboy Sr. picked.
