Page 109 of Master's Rise
An arm going around my back has me looking into those eyes that are weirdly blue, beautiful, mine and smiling up at me. “I’ll talk to Freedom. That’s some shit to live down.”
I’m so fucking glad she gets it. “This is what makes you such a good ol’ lady. You get more than the Brothers. We obviously need the help, Kram.”
She laughs pulling on my shoulder. I swing her up, loving her legs wrapping around me. She leans in. “The women are doing a dance thing. It’s in outfits but I got them in bathing suits. You good with that?”
Jesus. “You staying covered?”
“Yeah. In flames, Captain Cort.” She giggles. Shit, does that mean the pasties?
I clear my throat. My dick is already paying attention to this shit and she knows it by the look in her eyes. “As long as you’re covered.”
She wiggles her ass and I put her down. “You definitely don’t want to miss this.” She takes off before I can ask. Fucking woman. The Brothers are laughing.
“Cortland, get Sasquatch away from my food!” Rex yells.
Jesus. “Prospect!” I turn to Raid and Jinx. “Get Mounty out of there before Rex blows a gasket.”
Nance stops running right in front of me. “Pres.”
“Why are we cleanup?” Raid is watching Nance. “Prospects are all over the fucking place.”
I point behind the table. “Get him out of there. You think a Prospect can drag his ass away? He’s fucking huge.” I turn back to Nance while Raid bitches about Mounty being huge. I need a fucking drink and I just walked out. “Nance, you’re not a fucking Prospect. You got patched in last week.”
His red face smiles. “Old habits.”
Brothers are falling all over themselves laughing and giving him shit.I shake my head. “Get the fuck out of here before they have you spewing and drooling.”
An actual Prospect is waiting with a smile. “I’m the real deal, Pres.”
The Brothers find him funny too. Jesus, I really need a drink. “Get Security to let you in my office. Bring me my fire knee pads. I’m gonna fucking need them.”
“On it, Pres.” He runs.
I walk away from the shit being yelledmyway now.
“Cortland, I’m leaving the cafeteria Brothers in charge here. Keep an eye on them.” Rex stops me.
“I’m not watching fucking food. Who is in charge?”
“Mendez.” He’s already walking away.
I pinch the bridge of my nose hoping for a quieter day. Since the Brothers are loud and still fucking laughing, this time at Raid and Jinx dragging Mounty across the grass by the arms, that’s not going to be today. “Mendez!”
“Yeah, Boss.”
This isn’t a Brother I know. He’s older and way too clean. “Are you new?”
He nods with a happy smile on. “A new Mason. My app was approved, but I’ll be running the steakhouse. I’m in the boot camp class.” The Brother is proud.
I smile. “Glad you’re happy about that. If I get called because food sucks, makes people sick or there is none, I’m having you dragged behind a bike for the rest of the day. Call my girl’s pizzeria if you start running low.”
He looks at Falcon nervously. “Last guy had road rash all over. He was a fucking mess.”
With a deep breath my new Mason manager stands tall. “You will not be bothered by anything that has to do with food, Pres.”
I look at Falcon. He’s impressed too. “I like him.” With my eyes back on Mendez, I see he’s amused. “Good answer. I appreciate the Brothers that do their jobs. I’ll remember you, Mendez. The pussy the company sent from Illinois is a whiner.”
A laugh bubbles out before he can stop it. “Thank you, Boss. I’ll get back to work so I’m able to do that job too.”
