“I want to kill all those other men for making you feel like you were less than, but then if any of them had got you, seen how wonderful I know you are, then you wouldn’t be here right now… with me.”
“How do you know I’m wonderful? You just met me,” Axel's face was hidden in his chest, but Malek didn’t have to see his face to hear the vulnerability there.
His mate didn’t understand what a treasure he was, and if it took him the rest of their lives, Malek would make sure Axel never doubted it for a second.
“Because, I know you’re the most beautiful, and captivating person I have ever met.” He lifted Axel’s face, so he could see the sincerity in Malek’s words, “And I can’t wait to get to know everything about you. And I will love you until the day I die.”
Malek's lips were on Axel’s. He nipped Axel’s lower lip until he opened his mouth. Then he began his assault. His tongue dived in, claiming him, making sure no other man’s memory would ever be in his mind.
Malek softened the kiss, this time kissing Axel gently. When he looked up at him, Malek knew his heart didn’t belong to him anymore, and he couldn’t wait to see how their life went.
“And you’re my mate,” Malek said with a grin, “You’re my dream and fantasy come true, and loving you will be my greatest joy… and pleasure.”
Malek’s voice dropped, and he loved the way Axel shivered in response. He could tell that his mate was getting aroused, and even though Malek wanted to do very nasty things to his mate, now wasn’t quite the time.
“Axel,”goddess, he would never get tired of saying his mate's name, “You're the person, the man I’ve been waiting for, and once we are mated, you will be it for me, for as long as we live. My love, my mate, my husband to the humans… you’re everything. And if the goddess wills it, one day you’ll be the father of my children.”
“Husband,” Axel breathed the word like it was something precious, and Malek realised to Axel itwassomething precious. Malek realised that his mate hadn’t figured out that was what they would be at least to the human world.
“I’m so glad you want to have kids too,” Axel said, burrowing deeper into Malek’s chest. I know surrogacy in the UK especially can be difficult, because the law says parental rights stay with the surrogate mother. Can you believe that? Like you could make an agreement with someone and they might just go back on it, and take your child with them. That would suck. But, we’ll figure it out, because I love kids. Did I tell you I’m a teacher?”
As Axel spoke, Malek realised two things. His mate liked to babble, which he thought was really cute, but also, his mate thought they would be adopting.
Well, since they were having the conversation, now was as good a time as any to break the news to him.
“We don’t need to use a surrogate,” Malek interrupted Axel.
“Huh, what… we don’t need a surrogate? Oh, you want to adopt? That’s amazing too. I don’t mind adopting. There are so many kids that just need a good home.”
Malek sighed, how was he going to say this without having his mate running off screaming.
“We can adopt if your heart so desires,” Malek smiled, “But, what I mean is we can have children of our own together.”
Axel leaned away from his chest, his brow furrowed, “You said we don’t need a surrogate, so did you… I’m not sure how to finish that sentence, because I’m not sure what other way there is.”
Malek said a prayer to the goddess. He prayed that his mate wouldn’t run away from what he was about to tell him.
His father's voice echoed in his head. The goddess doesn’t give us more than we can handle son.
Well, he hoped his dad was right, because, well, his mate was just about to get his whole concept of the world turned on its head.
“Angel, listen to me, and I hope you give me a chance to explain before you freak out.”
Axel’s body tensed in his arms like he was preparing for some bad news.
“It’s not bad news, at least, I don’t think it’s bad news. I think it’s good news, a good thing in fact…”
“Okay,” Axel replied carefully. “So, what is it?”
“Well for shifters, shifter kind, there are three genders instead of two. We have alphas, betas and omegas.”
“Okay,” Axel nodded.
“Alphas, are the top of the pack, the leaders so to speak,” Malek said, “then there are betas, they’re kind of second in commands, lastly, there’s omegas, they’re the ones that have babies. They’re the one that in years past kept the pack going by leading when alphas and betas went to war.”
It wasn't that simple, but for the sake of explaining to his mate, it would have to do.
“Okay,” Axel murmured, “So, let me guess, you’re an alpha?”
