That last thought made me growl, the irritating concept giving me just enough pause to act. “Not here,” I told Cami as I slid off the mattress and pulled her along with me. “The shower.”

We needed to wash up anyway.

And if we still wanted to fuck in there, then I’d let it happen. Because that would mean this was real. That she truly wanted me and wasn’t just acting under some sort of lust spell.

“The shower?” Cami repeated. “Ajax, that’s for aft?—”

I picked her up, cutting her off before she could finish, and cradled her against my chest.

She gaped up at me. “You’re serious.”

“I am.” I started toward the en-suite bathroom. “You’re covered in Melek’s essence. Time to wash it off.”And make sure this is really what you want,I added mentally.

Cami made a noise that had my lips twitching upward in amusement. It was one of equal annoyance and frustration, and I suspected it wasn’t all directed at me.

I stepped inside the bathroom, my focus shifting to the oversized bathtub and then to the giant walk-in shower.

“Choices,” I mused, debating between the two. “But I think I want you there.” I gestured to the tiled wall with the ledges built in. There was a bench, too. “Three showerheads as well.”

Cami followed my gaze, her gray eyes lighting up with expectation. “That does look fun.”

“It does,” I agreed, setting her on her feet. “But first, you need to take off my pants.” It would confirm whether or not she truly wanted this. Give her a choice to back out. A moment of clarity to see beyond whatever lust-inducing spell the bed might have unleashed upon her.

Or Melek’s golden glitter,I thought sourly.

Cami glanced back at me, her pretty irises flickering down to my jeans. “Do I get a reward if I strip you?”

“Several,” I promised.

“Hmm.” She drew her nail across my lower abdomen, her lip disappearing between her teeth as she sank to her knees. It wasn’t at all what I’d expected when I’d issued my demand. A denial—because she’d come to her senses—had been one way I’d thought she might react.

I hadn’t anticipated this.

Or that devilish glint in her eyes as she reached for the button of my jeans.

I swallowed, my throat suddenly dry. I wasn’t sure if she wanted to please me or eat me.Maybe she plans to torture me. Punish me.Ownme.

My heart skipped a beat at the thought, my veins immediately burning with renewed need.

I’d do whatever she desired. Bow. Beg. Please her for hours, days,years. Follow her lead in every way imaginable. Do whatever she wanted.

It was a terrifying realization. However, this female… she’d gotten under my skin. She’d inserted herself into my soul without a single bite.

How is that even possible?I marveled as she drew the zipper of my pants down.When did she become mine?

Was it because I’d tasted her blood? Because we’d been through literal Hell together?

My jeans whispered along my skin as she tugged them down, leaving me exposed to her in more ways than she probably knew.

Would it scare her if I told her? Confessed how my incisors ached with the need to mark her? How my Midnight Fae spirit longed to marry hers?
