Oh. Shit.
“Ajax, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean?—”
He slid one hand between my legs and pressed directly on my clit. I sucked in a breath, all questions thrust immediately from my mind.
“I’d rather focus on you right now,” he whispered in my ear, his touch circling the inside of my thigh while his left hand continued to brush my nipple. “On us.”
Yes, please.
My thought hadn’t intended to go to him, but he heard it and obeyed my desire by kissing my neck, thenbiting.
I loved that he could bite me now. As much as he wanted, anywhere he wanted. Asoftenas he wanted.
Me, too, little rebel.
Me, too.
CHAPTER23
AZ
Cami might have walledme out, but her pleasure still thrummed through my veins, satiating my beast throughout the day. While he wanted to join, Ajax’s emotional state had proved that they needed this time together right now.
They would help each other heal.
And eventually, they would hopefully help each other trust me again.
My Phoenix and I went hunting in the interim, the craving for fresh meat coming from my inner beast more than me.
We swooped through the Midnight Fae Realm, our wings wide and casting violent shadows along the ground. There were so many creatures here to choose from, but the magic wafting off of them gave my Phoenix pause.
He didn’t like the scent.
Too flowery,I decided.Like the Midnight Fae Queen.
Perhaps hunting wouldn’t happen today.
Maybe I could steal some food from Ajax.
They appeared to be finished with their fifth—or was that their sixth?—session. They’d definitely need something to eat soon.
Or perhaps I could just steal something along the way.
The Midnight Fae Palace had an open kitchen and a very spacious dining room.
I was in the middle of flying there when Ajax said,I can sense you hovering.
If I were in human form, I would have lifted a brow at him.I’m flying above the palace right now.
Hence the hovering,he muttered.
I snorted and continued on my journey, shifting into my human form when I reached the kitchen. I’d given my bird control, but we seemed to be working together more than against each other, causing us to align with one another in our every movement.
It was… strange.
Foreign, even.
But I liked it.
