Page 93 of Made For The Alien Warrior
“Is she well enough to travel?”
“You want her gone?”
“That is not the case, but you know of our rules. None should remain in the sacred damas when they do not need healing.” He peered from the corner of his eyes. “I am bending the rules for your sake.”
Tiegan smiled slightly. There seemed to be a lot of ‘bending’ lately. First with Daz interrogating another tribas’s warrior and now with the Healer allowing the females to stay beyond their time.
Tiegan studied him. “You need the females to find the answers to these mysteries.”
“I do,” the Healer sounded hesitant, “but I am expecting a tribas from the West to bring their sick. The rooms will be occupied soon. We will need the space. Is there a reason they cannot join the others at the camp? Adhi has completed all her testing. Rune is packing up the lab and returning to Ga Eun. Their young one has gotten sick. He is eager to return home.”
“What of this female?” He pointed at the woman with red hair.
“She will remain under my personal protection. I will seal off the room so that no one disturbs her. Rune will oversee her stats from afar.”
Tiegan sighed. “Sim-pony wished to see the rest of the planet. Perhaps this is best.”
“You do not seem convinced.” The Healer turned fully to him. “Is there something you are not telling me, Tiegan.”
“I have a suspicion. About Adhi.”
“That she is the Healer for the humans?”
Tiegan blinked in astonishment. “You knew of this?”
“Only suspected.”
“How?”
“The triangulating beam.” He rubbed his beard. “I also saw from Rune’s tests that Adhi has nojideziin her system. In fact, she has no illness at all.” He tapped his chin. “I sensed she was special.”
“‘Special’ does not mean she is a Healer for the humans.”
“Indeed.” The Healer gestured for him to move around the bedding. “Look.” The Healer pointed to the female’s hand.
He stared at her small fingers. “What am I looking for?”
“Thejidezireturned to this female’s body. Nothing I tried could rid her of it. Until Adhi came to visit. She held the female’s hand and spoke to her. After this, thejideziwent away.”
Tiegan’s eyes widened.
“I do not believe she understands her gifts. And I wish to teach her more, but I am afraid she will not be safe here. When the West tribas arrive for healing, I will not be able to watch over her.”
“You fear they will harm her?”
“I do not want to take the risk. Adhi is valuable to the humans and, perhaps, even to Rune’s brood. She must be protected at all costs.”
Tiegan nodded. “We will depart soon.”
“They will come after her if they know,” the Healer mumbled.
“Adhi?”
“Sim-pony. The Plutonians who have turned against humans will not take kindly to a human wreaking damage on one of their own. You must be careful on your journey.”
Tiegan dipped his head. With determined steps, he found both Adhi and Sim-pony and alerted them of their travel plans.
“We’re just… leaving?” Adhi inquired, her eyebrows shooting high on her forehead. “Just like that?”
