“Into me?” She scrunched her nose. “You mean, like, sexually?”
His lips twitched. “Are you hungry?”
“Kind of.” She rubbed her stomach. “Did Sara and Korben come back yet?”
“They have.” He led her to the door.
She stood and realized her feet were wobbly. Losing her balance, Symphony collided into Tiegan’s naked chest. She got an intimate look at his tattoos before she inched her eyes up to his face.
His pupils had dilated, looking more black than purple. “You are not allowed to throw yourself into my arms until you have seen what I have done.”
She cracked a smile. “I really don’t know how you joke with a straight face like that. It’s weird.”
He kissed her forehead. “This way.”
She straightened on her own and resisted him when he tried to tug her from the room. “What’s so exciting outside?”
“There is nothing exciting.”
“Are you kidding me? My neural implant is picking up all your excitement and anticipation.” She moaned. “Don’t tell me everyone is out there. I don’t think I can handle a social gathering yet.”
“No one is outside,” he promised.
She eyed him warily. “But you said they were all back.”
“Indeed. Korben and the others delivered the rebels to their tribas.”
Her jaw dropped. “That’s it. That’s all you guys did?”
“We cannot kill them. One Plutonian death will cause immeasurable damage to our population.” He tugged on her hand. “Must we continue this conversation in here?”
She folded her arms over her chest. “The Plutonian justice system is whack. The Healer had to take care of the guy who kidnapped me. I get that. But they tried to kill usagain. And this time, they involved Adhi. They tampered withourHealer. That deserves more than a scolding from their terros!”
Tiegan leaned against the door, his admiring gaze falling over her.
“What?” She shrieked.
“You are incredibly appealing when you are frustrated.”
Her insides melted like goo. “Now is not the time for your sweet talk.”
“I had hoped we could get to the sweet talking after we had eaten, but I’m afraid I have become impatient.”
“I want to know what will happen to the evil Plutonians for what they did to us.”
“They will face excommunication.”
“And?”
“That is all.”
She scowled. “You need a better system.”
“And you need to stop yelling. Come with me.”
“Where?”
“In the living space.”
