Page 18 of Made For The Alien Warrior
Tiegan remained at her side until his alien friends arrived. The alien with the beard smiled at her. He had intelligent eyes and a calm demeanor. When their gazes connected, she felt an inordinate amount of comfort.
“How do you fare today?” he asked.
She bobbed her head. “I’m feeling a little better.”
“Healer,” Tiegan’s voice was low but urgent, “she still seems weak. Her body was hot to the touch as well.”
“Do you have a fever?” The Healer placed his hand against her head.
The brush of his fingers made the pain in her body shift from a sharp knife to a dull ache. Maybe that was why everyone called him Healer. He seemed to have a relieving effect on her pain.
“Does that help?” the Healer asked quietly.
She bobbed her head. “What did you do?”
“I calmed the Plutonian blood inside you.” His eyes twinkled. “That much I can do.”
“Her Plutonian blood has already been awakened?” The other blue alien glanced pointedly at Tiegan.
“Neh, Rune,” the Healer rasped, “she is not yet mated. Tiegan touched their lips to save hers and activated her Plutonian blood.”
Rune’s fierce expression calmed. “Indeed? That must mean the connection between her and Tiegan is strong. More than touching lips is required to awaken Plutonian blood.”
More than touching lips? Did they mean…
Symphony glanced at Tiegan and found him staring intently at her. Her gaze dropped to his pants and, for a brief moment, she wondered if the Plutonian way of mating was just like it was on earth’s.
A naughty picture entered her mind. What if her first time wouldn’t be with a human guy but with an alien? Heat billowed in her chest and she almost choked on her own spit.
Tiegan flew to her side. “Are you unwell?”
“No,” she waved him off and croaked, “I’m okay.”Get yourself together, Symphony. What craziness are you thinking?
She chanced another look at Tiegan and found his lips tugging up in amusement. There was no way he knew what she was thinking, right?
Desperately avoiding his gaze, Symphony cleared her throat. “Is the nano-tech causing the fever?” She held her arm out to Rune for his inspection. “It still feels a little funny.”
“I do not think there is any problem with the tech.” Rune whipped out a futuristic holographic device. He pressed some keys and transparent images popped up in front of her.
Symphony gasped. “Wow.”
“If there’s a problem, it must be with your human side. We’ll have to observe you further.” Rune nodded to the Healer. “I’d like to set up a lab here and see if we can come up with something.”
“Before you go,” Symphony piped up, “I just wanted to say thanks.” Her eyes darted to the Healer. “To both of you. I’ve…” She pressed a finger into her left arm, marveling at how real it felt. “I never thought this would happen. I’m grateful.”
Rune dipped his head.
The Healer smiled. “Worry not. We will find a way to adjust the nano-tech to the rest of your body. You have a great chance of recovery and…”
As he spoke, his voice faded into the background of her mind.
“I’m here! Please!”
She jerked forward when she heard the voice.
Tiegan sprang toward her. “Sim-pony.”
“What’s wrong?” Rune asked, charging forward. His holographic device had turned red and it seemed to be glitching. “My comms just picked up a spike in your reading.”
