“F-flick?”
“You seem rather occupied with mating. Perhaps you are trying to tell me something.”
“I’m not.” Her eyes widened. “I’m really not.”
His lips quirked up in amusement. Gently backing away from her, he explained, “All the other humans have experience fighting in a zapten. You do not.”
“You’re going to teach me how to fight in the exoskeleton?” Excitement blazed in her eyes and snapped in his neural connector.
He smiled.
“But,” her eyes dimmed, “Korben wants us to check out the landing point. Shouldn’t we do that first?”
“The landing point we were assigned is not far away. I’ve already informed Korben that we will be delayed.”
“Okay.”
He leaned down. “Beyond your skills with the zapten, I must ensure that your nano-tech arm is no longer glitching.” He tapped her nose. “As much as I enjoy your groping, I do not want these hands to caress the bodies of anyone but me.”
“They won’t,” she mumbled, looking embarrassed.
“I need a true guarantee. We are going to see Rune and then I am going to show you how to use the zapten.”
“Okay.” Her chest caved in.
“Disappointed?” He gave her a wicked grin. “I can mate you quickly. I only need a short time to mark you as mine.”
She trembled. “Is this alien dirty talk?”
“This is me offering you a choice. To train with the zapten, you cannot be distracted by your lust for me. It is important that you hear every instruction as it may spell the difference between survival and demise.”
She narrowed her eyes in his direction. “Who says I feel any lust for you?”
“You cannot hide it.” He pointed to his neural connector. “The colors flashing in my head say you would very much like me to play in your heat.”
“Can you stop saying heat?” she hissed.
“Then what else should I call your entrance?”
Her jaw dropped. “Donotcall it ‘entrance’.” Lips pulling in tightly, she stammered, “You know what? Heat is fine.”
“Does your discomfort with this kind of language come from your lack of experience or is it because I am the one speaking these words?”
“You really think you’re all that, don’t you?” Smacking his hand away, she huffed. “I can focus just fine. So lead the way.” Sim-pony gestured down the hall. “I’m right behind you.”
“Stay beside me,” he corrected her, taking her hand and laughing quietly.
She glared at him but did not tug her fingers from his grip.
Tiegan’s chest swirled with uncertainties. He had so many worries. The rebel agenda against humans, Sim-pony’s glitching arm, and now, he had earthen expectations for mating.
Even amidst the chaos, holding Sim-pony’s hand made him feel that all these troubles could be conquered. She was his inspiration and his strength. He had no other choice than to slay any obstacles in her path so she could taste the joy and comfort she brought to his life too.
