Story: Liberate Us
I jumped to my feet.
“Sam?” Cyrus followed suit.
“I’m going to do everything you suggested. I’m going to waituntil she’s ready to talk but I’m…” A thought crossed my mind. That singlethought made my stomach flip. “I’m not waiting to marry her.”
A slow grin spread on my brother’s face. He pulled me into ahug, clapping my back. “It’s about fucking time.”
“You wouldn’t be pissed?” I asked him, knowing that he wasplanning his own wedding with Ainsley.
“Not at all. Jaron and I never thought you would find yourperson anyway, so I’m happy for you and will stand by you.”
My chest tightened. “I love you, brother, but I think…I thinkI’m going to take Amber to her mom’s place. It’s her childhood home. But thatwould mean…”
“You want to transfer to Tiny’s chapter?”
“I think it might be best. Not that I want to move away from youof course but I need to do this for Amber. And it’s only a few hours’ drive. But if Jaron agrees to it…”
Cyrus smiled, hugging me again. “I only want what’s best for youand I get it. I would do anything to make Ainsley happy and if it meant movingacross the damn world, I would.”
“Why are we hugging, and why am I not included?”
Cyrus and I turned to Jaron coming down the hall toward us.
“I wanted to make sure you were good before I went home,” Jaronexplained. “Piper insisted that I check on you all first.”
I held my arm out, keeping my other wrapped around my brother’sshoulders.
Jaron closed the distance between us, allowing us to wrap aroundeach other in an awkward group hug.
“I love you guys,” he muttered.
We stood like that for a few minutes, hugging and embracing eachother. While Cyrus was my brother by blood, Jaron was just as much a part ofour family. They were my life, and I would lay down mine for them without anyhesitation at all.
“I want to transfer,” I blurted.
Jaron leaned back, staring at me.
“I want to take Amber and move her home. I think being in hermom’s house will be good for her.” I didn’t want to leave them and knew that Iwould see them often. It wouldn’t be the same but I had to do this. “If Amberdecides that she wants to move back here, I’m fine with that too. I just…”
Jaron pulled me back into a hug. “You don’t need to explain. Iget it. Let me make some calls.”
“You would do this for me?” I asked, my voice thick.
“Of course. Now go to your girl,” Jaron said, pulling away fromus. “And marry her already.”
“Are you both sure you won’t be pissed?” I needed to make surethere would be no animosity between the three of us before I made Amber mywife.
“Never.” Jaron clapped my shoulder. “As long as we’re boththere, I don’t give a shit when you marry Amber. I’ll also call Tiny and seewhat he says about you transferring to his chapter. We do need to vote aboutthis and then they’ll have to vote too but you’re lucky you stayed on his goodside. I think everyone will agree to it. But he could make you start out as aprospect if he really wanted to.”
“I know. I’ll do anything and I really don’t care about startingout at the bottom again. As long as Amber is happy, that’s all I want.”
“I’ll set it up.” Jaron looked between us. “It’ll be odd as fuckwithout you here but don’t be a stranger. That’s all I ask.”
“Never.” And I wouldn’t. They were my family. Even if both ofour chapters agreed, I would always come home.
Most clubs made you start out as a prospect again. The big onesanyway. But Greyson had changed some of the rules over the years. As long asyou kept your nose clean so to speak and both chapters agreed, a transfer couldhappen.
“Take care of your girl, Sam,” Cyrus said as he walked away.
