Story: Liberate Us
Once wewere outside and the sun beat down on my face, a sob escaped me.
“Let itout, Red,” Sam said gently, carrying me in his arms. “Let it all out.”
I latchedon to him and cried against his chest.
It wasover.
I lost mymom in the process, and I would never forgive myself because of that. But atthe same time, I knew that she would be happy I no longer had to fear that Willwould come for me.

Icould feel her soul shattering in my arms. Amber was breaking before me, and Ididn’t know how to help her through it. Maybe she needed to do it on her own.But whenever she needed me and however, she needed me, I would be there. Withopen arms. Whatever she wanted, I was there.
I placed her in the back of the SUV I shared with my brother andleaned my forehead against her temple.
Thankful the SUV was still driveable even though it was shot toshit by Will’s men.
I breathed her in, the sweet scent of her skin calming theracing nerves rushing through me. I almost lost her. I almost lost her and ourbabies. We lost men. Cheesy and Locke were so damn young, they never deservedthis. My chest tightened as I tried thinking up ways I could gently let their parentsknow what had happened.
Will fucked Amber up and I wasn’t sure if she would ever getthrough it, but I would help her. Always. Forever. No matter what and no matterthe cost. I would help her with whatever she needed.
When I went to pull away, she whimpered. “Shh…” I kissed herhead. “I’m here. Not going anywhere, pet. Just giving you some space.”
She shook her head. “I don’t need space. I need to go home. Ineed to bury my mom. I need…Oh God, Cheesy and Locke…did they…are they okay?”
I shook my head. “I’m sorry, pet, but they died with honor.”
Tears fell harder down her cheeks. “Are you okay?”
I stared at her, taken aback by her question. There she was, sitting before me, crying and losing pieces of herself, but yet, she stillasked me if I was okay.
“You need to get checked out,” I said instead of answering her.We would take her to a doctor we knew that worked out of the Mayhem’s Revengeclubhouse. Hospitals could be dangerous. Especially when, depending on theinjury, they could call the police. Amber had been through enough. She didn’tneed to go through that.
“Don’t close the door,” Amber said. “Please.”
“I won’t.” I turned as Cyrus, Jaron, and several of the otherguys came toward us.
“I’ve called the cleaning crew,” Jaron said. “We’ve lost…” He shookhis head. “Fuck…this…”
Cyrus wrapped his arm around his shoulders. “I know, brother. Iknow.”
Jaron took a deep breath. “Price is dead.” He shook out hishand. “It was almost too easy but fuck me, was it ever satisfying. Tiny’sprospects have Amber’s mom. We’ll give her a burial and a funeral.”
“We’ll put her with our parents.” I looked at Amber. “If that’sokay with you.”
She nodded. “I would like that.”
“Is that okay with you?” I asked my brother.
“You don’t even have to ask me, Sam.” He clapped my shoulder.“Ever. We can bury Cheesy, Locke, and everyone else, at the same location. Likealways.” He ran a hand through his hair, a deep frown settling between hisbrows. “Fuck, I have to tell Ainsley about Cheesy. This is going to hurt.”
“Be there for her,” I reminded him. “She’ll need you.”
He nodded.
I slipped into the back seat with Amber. “We need to go seeRicky and get Amber checked out.”
