Page 88 of We The Depraved
She looks reborn, her skin is glowing in the soft light.
“I couldn’t wait on you to save me,” her voice wavers.
Fuck.
I want to cry. I’m a grown fucking man, and I feel so over come with fear that I’ve lost the woman I’m married to. Had she been with Carla in an intimate way?
“Kitten…”
She snaps and looks into my eyes. “I don’t think you should call me that, after what happened.”
Anger is jumping off her in waves.
“Can I explain?”
“Are you going to insult my intelligence…tell me that what I saw wasn’t you about to fuck that woman while I was downstairs at her party? Save it.”
She stands up and flings the wet towel surrounding her perfect body. I can’t help it, I’m hard as a cinder brick. My wife, ignores me and starts looking in the dresser drawers.
“Sage, I told you that I don’t want anyone but you. I’m too old to play young childish games. What you saw was me threatening her?”
She stiffens in her movements but continues shoving her body into clothing.
“I don’t believe you,” she shrugs. “I want a divorce. You got what you wanted from me…people have been taking from me my entire life.”
I can’t take not touching her any longer. “There will be no fucking divorce, Sage. You belong to me.”
“I’m not fucking property!”
Her voice rises and I know everyone is about to start listening in.
Goddamn, she stubborn as a rattlesnake.
“No, you’re my wife! There will be no divorce. I didn’t fuck Angela Davis, and never plan to again. What you saw was me threatening her that if she doesn’t sign on these land permits, I’m exposing her son.”
Sage’s eyes go wide.
“He fucking had an accident…a girl was killed and it got covered up, Sage.”
“My father’s files…”
“Yes…he has so much dirt on people in those files, Kitten. I’m a god, now.”
Sage shakes away from me.
“I don’t understand why you needed to touch her like that… I think you’re lying.”
“I don’t lie, Kitten. But I’ll spend eternity proving to you that you’re what I want.”
Her eyes tell me she doesn’t believe me and if I were her I wouldn’t trust a word out of my mouth either.
“Prove it,” Sage’s poked a finger into my chest. “If you can do that, Nikita Safaryan, I’ll remarry you in a real ceremony in front of God and Texas. But only if you can prove it.”
My wife wants to call my bluff.
I never bluff when I’m holding all the cards.
“I’ll do that, Kitten. But when I do….just know I’m going to collect on promises owed.”
