“I have to run into work,” he states. “Please, again think of your sister and don’t fucking leave the property, Sage.”
I smirk and roll my eyes. “Yes, Daddy.”
My words shock both of us. Instantly, I wish I could call them back but Niki ignores me anyway. He leaves off the porch and get into his car and drives away. I’m alone then and for a while it’s quiet.
Soon, I hear the sounds of metal striking against metal coming from the barn. I haven’t had much interest in the barn or in the horses. There’s plenty of time to kill before Silver gets here so I trot out to see what they’re doing.
There’s a few women working and I don’t know why but the way Niki acts, I half expect to see them in assless chaps or something. They seem to ignore me and then I spot a woman with a hammer beating into the hoof of a horse.
I stand back and marvel, then she looks up.
She’s fucking gorgeous. Sweat is on her brow, her brown hair tied up in a knot at the base of her head.
“Hi,” she smiles and then goes back to work.
Instantly, I’m attracted. Her body is fit as hell and I’m intrigued.
“Hi,” I say awkwardly.
“This is Champagne Dream,” she indicates to the horse.
He’s big as hell and I’m fine standing where I am. His eyes dart in my direction; he’s beautiful and he know it.
“Lovely,” I tell her.
She offers another smile.
“Do I get a name?” I ask.
She nails one more nail into the hoof she’s been holding steady the entire time. She nuzzles the horse and then someone comes and takes him away.
“Is my name really that important?” She begins to put away her materials.
“Not for what I have in mind,” I tell her.
She stops in her movements. “Deena Jones. And you are the new Mrs. Safaryan, I take it.”
Sheepishly, I shove my hands in my pockets. “Is there a stamp on my head or…”
“On this ranch, news travels fast.”
“Well, Deena….are you hungry… I could go for a snack.”
We both know, I’m not talking about a snack.
She’s attractive.
I’m attractive and I want to see what she’s working with. Silver’s running that errand and my captors gone off to tend to something. Why can’t I get a quick…
She frowns. “I’m flattered. But even I know not to touch my Boss’s woman.”
“I was offering lunch,” I tell her.
“Maybe and maybe not. But I’m not willing to risk it.”
With all her materials put up, she leaves and I watch her go.
Next time, Deena, I think.
