His brothers.
They might be Russian but they’re also southern. Each one of them introduces themselves and I can already tell who my favorite is.
Artur.
He cusses like a sailor and tells the best stories.
I laugh as he explains that my best friend hates his guts already.
Erik is the baby boy, who offers shy smiles and asks if I need more clothes from my house.
“Thank you,” I tell him and elbow his oldest brother who smirks. “That would be amazing.”
“I didn’t have time to collect clothes, I was too busy picking your drunken ass up from the floor,” Niki says.
“Fuck you,” I tell him in front of his family.
I won’t be bullied.
“I didn’t ask you to kidnap me,” I remind him.
The other brother who’s just as serious as Niki, winces.
Damien speaks. “If this gets out, it could ruin our fucking brand, Niki. This wasn’t smart.”
My soon to be husband rolls his eyes. “Relax, and eat up.”
“So, Artur,” I say and catch his eager eye. “What is the buzz at the club?”
He’s the partying type and I know he probably hit on every dancer in sight at the club. I’ll bet he knows were all the good weed is in Harris County.
He smiles a slick smile. “They are wondering where you were getting off to with this asshole. There are some worries things will change.”
I lift the spoon to my lips and eat some of the food. It’s finally cooled down some. Niki’s eyes are burrowing into the side of my face and I turn and look at him.
He’s watching me eat and he likes what he sees.
Well, he’s seen you naked and fucked you on this very couch,I think. What’s watching you while you eat?
“Well they must be dreaming,” I finally reply.
“And whys that?” Niki asks.
“Because not a damn thing is about to change concerning The Crescent.”
Artur lets out a laugh as his brother’s face drops.
“I fucking love you,” Artur declares.
Niki and I have a stare down and finally I win. He breaks his gaze and orders his brother’s out of the house.
Erik stops. “I’ll be back tomorrow with fresh clothing. It was very nice to meet you.”
“Thank you,” I offer a smile but I’m not sure he sees it.
Niki is slamming the door behind his brothers and locking it into place. Without much talking he cleans up the bowls and heads to the kitchen. Because I have nothing else to do, I trail behind him wondering where he keeps the booze at in this place.
“I could go for a drink,” I tell him.
