They have the baby.
I’m scared. Please if you ever cared about me, you’ll help me.
Those words are all it takes. I slam the gas pedal and I’m doing eighty-five in mere seconds. I owe Carla, and her child.
CHAPTER25
Niki
Fuck,I think.
The hurt on Sage’s face when she encountered me and the Governor. I know how it looks. I know how it seems. I just need to fucking explain myself.
Damien picks me up outside of the Governor’s mansion in his blacked out SUV. Artur and Erik are in the backseat. The car smells of alcohol and sex and instantly I know it coming from Artur.
“You need a shower,” I glance back at him before we pull away.
Damien laughs. “I told you that you smell like pussy boy.”
I watch my middle brother sniff himself. “Hey fuck all of you. You’re the one that made your wife run away.”
“Is she okay,” Erik asks and I read the confusion on his face.
“She will be once I explain.”
“Explain that that you weren’t trying to fuck your ex-lover?” Artur’s voice is grating on my nerves.
“Shut the fuck up,” I grumble. “Did you just have me on fucking speaker when you took the call?”
Damien shrugs. “I was picking him up from some woman’s house. Pure coincidence.”
“Don’t believe in it,” I lay my head back against the seat.
We don’t speak any more until we arrive at my mansion. My brothers follow behind me closely and Ivan opens the door.
“Where is my wife?” I snap at him.
He doesn’t’ flinch; he’s use to me.
“She left, sir.”
“What?”
Khrystina is on the landing watching me behind Ivan. “What did you do to my sister?”
I take a breath. “I didn’t do anything.”
“She seemed pretty pissed off. There was some woman….Carla. She came here.”
“They left together?” I feel frantic now, my stomach in a knot.
Carla as in her ex-lover.
Sage knows that if she were to….
I shake myself out of my stupor and listen to my sister in-law.
“This Carla lady…she was agitated. She said some man had kidnapped her child and….Sage owes her. I called Sage and told her. When she got here she briefly said the two of you were over, she changed clothes and then left, barely said bye. She took her wedding ring off and flung it somewhere.”
