Page 97 of Vows of a Mobster
Me: Yes.
Daphne: And?
Me: Nothing. We ate dinner.
Daphne: Did you have sex?
Me: Come on, why do you have to be so nosy?
Marissa: That would be yes, you had sex. He is so pussy whipped.
Me: Please stop saying that.
Marissa: Did you use a condom?
Me: This is really too much to share.
Daphne: That is a no, you didn’t use it. Which restaurant… because I don’t want to sit in the chair you had sex on. Yuck!
Me: It wasn’t in the restaurant.
Marissa: Gosh Brie, you must be a good lay.
Me: I’ll see you both tomorrow.
Marissa: I was just joking.
I took a deep sigh. I didn’t know why it got to me. I guess I wanted to be more than a good lay but there were so many secrets swirling around Mateo and me. Tonight’s encounter with Declan proved that point. I had no idea why the tension but he was obviously Mateo’s enemy.
I trusted Mateo but I couldn’t risk making a mistake with my trust.Well, then you can’t say you trust him,my mind whispered.
Me: I know. Thank you both for doing this. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
I pushed all worries out of my mind and focused on enjoying this moment. Truthfully, I was all giddy about having a movie night with Mateo. It was such a normal, simple thing to do but it made me happy. My stepdad was always busy with functions, so we cherished those rare evenings we were able to spend together, watching a movie. I used to do the same with my dad before he died but our movie nights were him watching my Disney movies.
I quickly got ready for bed and changed into a pair of black shorts and a white tank top. Mateo pretty much replenished my entire wardrobe this afternoon, but I preferred sleeping in simple cotton shorts and tank tops versus the sexy, silky nightgowns he had ordered. Although they were tempting.
I glanced at the clock and noted there was still another twenty minutes so I grabbed my kindle, fluffed up my pillows on the bed, propping them up and started reading the sugar daddy smut novel Daphne picked up.
Holy shit! Not even five minutes into it, I regretted it because all it accomplished was to get me all horny. But I didn’t regret it enough to put the book down. I pretty much devoured the pages, envisioning Mateo as the sugar daddy in the book and me the heroine.
“Must be a good book.”
I shrieked. “Holy fuck! Seriously?” My heart lodged itself in the back of my throat, pounding like I just ran a marathon. “Mateo, you gave me a heart attack. Make a sound next time!”
Mateo was right next to the bed, amusement in his green eyes. “I wasn’t exactly quiet but you were so lost in your book, your cheeks all flushed. I just couldn’t resist.”
I blushed harder and snapped the cover of my kindle, putting it back to sleep mode.
Clearing my throat, I answered, “Ready for a movie?” He smiled and loosened his tie and fuck, I was hot and bothered already but that simple move made me want to jump him. “What kind of movies do you usually watch?”
His lips tilted up, his eyes traveling over my body. “Whatever you want.” He bent over me and pressed his lips against me. “I like you in my bed.”
My heart fluttered at that simple statement. God, I was falling for him fast and hard.
“We could watch one episode ofThe Blacklist,” I suggested, my voice husky. “I haven’t seen any of the seasons, but if we like it, we could watch it whenever you have time.”
The look in his eyes was indescribable and I wondered if I said something wrong.
