Page 132 of Vows of a Mobster
“Is that a yes?” he murmured against my lips, both of our breathing labored.
“Yes.”
I crave him. I want him. I love him.
Emotions flowed through my veins. I was his the moment my arms wrapped around him during our first dance. I fell hard for him.
His next kiss was bruising, possessive.
When I opened to him, our mouths collided and his kiss was rough and demanding, making me lose all my senses. Nothing mattered but having this man in my life. While he fisted my hair, I raked my nails down his bare back. His teeth nipped at my bottom lip, then licked the sting away.
“Mine,” he growled, his mouth greedy on my skin.
His strong, hard body hovered over mine. Both of his powerful arms moved to each side of my head. The ache between my legs pulsed, eager for him to ease it. I whimpered with need, moving my hips up, needing him.
Grabbing my hips, he poised himself at my entrance and slammed into me. He moved hard, rough, fast, and mercilessly.
“O-Oh, God. Please don’t stop,” I begged in a breathless tone.
He pushed into me again, filling me to the hilt. He pulled out again and thrust back in hard.
“Nobody touches you, amore.”
“More, Mateo,” a throaty moan echoed throughout our bedroom.
Mateo fucked me hard, ramming into me. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and hung on.
“Look at me, amore.” His voice was strangled, deep. I watched him through heavy eyelids, our gazes locked. His eyes shone like emeralds, watching me like he was drunk.
He pumped in and out faster. “My woman.” He pulled out and then came back, taking my breath away. “Tell me you are mine, amore.”
My whole body was sensitive, matching each hard thrust and welcoming it. “I’m yours, Mateo. Always yours.” I barely got the words out as intense pleasure surged inside me, and I let go, giving into the sensation. I was his.
My back arched, and I cried out his name. He consumed me, embers licking through my veins, just for him. My entire body trembled, as he moved faster and went even deeper.
“Brianna,” he growled out my name, his head tilting back, and his eyes shut tight. His muscles tightened just before he spilled inside me. My heartbeat matched his, my breathing shallow and labored just like his.
This felt different. It was like he took every breath, every heartbeat and claimed it as his. He looked down at me and kissed me gently on my forehead.
“You’ll be the death of me.”
“Me?” I breathed out.
“What you do to me,” he whispered. “I would burn this world to ashes, just to keep you safe and with me.”
I placed my palm against his cheek.I love him,my mind whispered but the words got stuck in my throat. He pulled out of me and rolled us both over so he could tuck me to his side.
“Sleep, amore.” I fell asleep with the sound of his heart beating against my ear, in rhythm with mine.

I woke up with Mateo’s arms wrapped tightly against me. I was getting more and more used to him and loved being around him. Scratch that, I loved him. But there were so many secrets around us, I knew this could never succeed long-term. And Marissa explained to me plenty of times how divorce in her family was non-existent.
But would it be so bad to be married to Mateo for the rest of my life? I didn’t think so. To me, he wasn’t the head of famiglia. He was just Mateo, the man that fucked me hard and passionately. The man who sat on the bathroom tile and held me for hours while my daughter slept in my arms. Yes, our start was rocky, but instinctively, I knew that Mateo’s vows would be sincere and he’d never let anything happen to me or Emma. He didn’t speak of love, but he cared.
I was scared to love him too much, feared he’d not love me, and I’d slowly wither like my father had, like my stepfather had. I hadn’t seen too many happy love stories in real life. Actually, my grandparents were the only happy love story I have witnessed.
I turned to watch his face. I had to stop myself from reaching out and tracing the lines of his face. Even in sleep, his face wasn’t relaxed or soft.
