Page 66 of Vows of a Mobster
“Ah, I see. We are negotiating, aren’t we?”
“I should probably give you a fair warning, Bellissima,” he whispered in my ear. “I’m a tough negotiator.”
I pushed my hands inside his suit jacket, feeling the hard muscles on his wide back.
“So am I, Mateo.”
Make him pussy whipped,Marissa’s voice whispered.
Twenty-One
Mateo
This woman kept surprising me. From the moment I saw her in front of the elevator, observing this top executive floor. It was as if she still debated whether she should go through with it.
Just thinking about last night, those moans and whimpers got me hard. I jerked off in the shower this morning thinking about her and how she’d feel as I fucked her. She turned out even better than in my wildest dreams and we barely got started.
In all my years, I had never lost my head in business nor pleasure. With her, all sense was gone. I was so focused on her, I forgot to mandate she go through a physical examination and forgot about the condom. I’d been so wrapped up in her that I hadn’t thought about any of it. From the moment my eyes met hers, she’d made me forget my own rules, my own ruthless life. She made me feel light.
The protection didn’t even occur to me till she brought it up. The expression on her face as she realized we didn’t use protection was of complete fear and devastation. I could imagine after having her first child so young, she probably wasn’t ready for another.
And I was a bastard to stop her from getting a morning after pill.
She turned out to be everything and so much more. Her admission that she hadn’t had a man in five years and that I was her second. I would have never guessed it. That phone sex last night! Nothing went according to plan. After our call last night, and her guard gone while under the influence, I lost all my reason and demanded her first thing this morning. I had to have her.
And now that I had her, it would be impossible to stop. When my brother attempted to touch her, I wanted to push my fist through his young face and break his nose. Nobody would touch her. She was mine.
For now, I’m yours.
She was giving me limited time. All the years women tried to trap me with pregnancies, and now here I was hoping Brianna would end up pregnant with my child. I wanted to trap her.
“So what kind of coffee do you drink?” she asked, glancing at me over the shoulder as we walked through the lobby of Agosti Enterprise.
She was oblivious to everyone’s stares. She was either focused on me or lost in her thoughts. It was a dangerous trait when connected to my world. One missed moment and it could cost you a life.
“Black,” I told her, grabbing her hand. She didn’t resist, leaving her hand in mine, and we walked together. The feeling was unfamiliar; I hadn’t walked hand in hand with a woman before. The act was simple but very intimate.
I wanted the whole city, the whole world to know she was mine. If they hurt her, they would experience my wrath. Women were just entertainment up till now. She was so much more.
“That’s kind of boring,” she said.
“I’m a boring man.”
She laughed. “Okay, maybe yesterday afternoon I would have believed that.”
“I’m still the same man,” I told her. She was the only person that hadn’t quivered in my presence. Although she didn’t know who I was until yesterday. But even now, she wasn’t quivering.
She tilted her head as if thinking about it. “I guess so.”
“You disagree?” I challenged her.
“Want to eat at Panera Bread?” she asked instead. “It is a bit early for lunch but maybe some brunch?”
“Too crowded.”
“You are probably right but we’ll get food faster.” She tugged me closer. “I’m starving. We had a liquid dinner last night.”
I smiled. From the moment I met her, I smiled more than in the last thirty years.
