Page 7 of Tempted by the Taurus (BLP Signs of Love #11)

My cheeks burned. How in the hell did he know what I was doing? I reached for the Long Island iced tea and took a long gulp of it. I hoped the alcohol helped me through the night. A'Mylo was a different breed and wasn't what I expected.

"Please stop."

He threw his hands up and cackled. "My bad. I didn't mean to embarrass you. I'm glad you came, though. You could have ditched me and gone home."

I scoffed with a roll of my eyes. "Now you tell me."

"And if you had done that, I would have shown up at your job." He reached for a wing and bit into it.

"Are you always like this?"

He lifted an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"Demanding as hell. It makes me wonder what’s your sign?” I asked.

He chuckled. “Hmm, now you want to know. I’m a Taurus. That’s why I’m not afraid to go after what I want.”

“Oh gosh. No wonder you’re demanding. It's that Taurus in you."

He only smiled. "Nah, I don't think so. I mean, I go after what I want. If I want something, I want it right then. I'm not the type to wait around for anything."

That was a good way of thinking. He had me there. "And what if you can't get it when you want it?"

He snorted. "Oh, best believe I'm getting whatever the hell I want. What about you? You don't get everything you want?"

I half-shrugged. "If I can't get it when I want it, I have to realize it's not meant for me."

He shook his head. "That's the wrong way to think. I'm a go-getter. Whatever I want is meant for me."

A'Mylo reached for another wing and bit into it. My stomach protested, letting me know I hadn't eaten since lunch. While he ate, I watched as his eyes bounced all around the bar before he reached for his bottle of beer to wash down the chicken.

I grabbed a wing from the basket and dipped it in the ranch dressing before I took a bite out of it.

"I was wondering when you were going to stop acting cute and eat," he joked.

I playfully rolled my eyes at him. "Whatever. I'm nervous," I admitted.

A'Mylo frowned. "Why? You've seen me three times already — well, four now. No need for that. I won't bite unless you want me to."

I dipped my head and chewed slowly. "You're too much."

He laughed a little. "So, I've been told."

I could admit, I enjoyed his company. It had been a while since I had sat down and talked to a man like this. A'Mylo was sexy, my type, and successful, with a good head on his shoulders. The way he carried himself exuded confidence and authority.

"Let me ask you a question."

I lifted my eyes to stare at him, wondering what he wanted to ask me. "Okay?"

"Do you love your job? Is it something you wanted to do? Was it a goal of yours in life to work there? Do you have any other goals?"

That was an easy question to answer. "Yes, it was a goal of mine, and I don’t have any others right now, because I’m content with where I am and what I have.

I have my real estate license. I love helping clients find their dream home.

Do I want my own business one day? No, the work that goes into it is a lot, and I'm making a lot of money now.

" Then I thought about the news I received today, and joy bubbled inside me once again.

He nodded. "That's understandable."

"What about you?"

A huge smile spread across A'Mylo's face. "I love my job wholeheartedly. I had a calling to be a carpenter. I answered and haven't looked back. I wouldn't change anything about my profession. I don’t have any other goals at the moment. Like you, I’m content with my life.”

“That’s understandable.”

"When you're not at work, what do you do? Look up houses?" he asked with a laugh.

I glared at him playfully. "Haha, you're so funny. No, I don't. I enjoy journaling or creating journals for others. It's my little business." I loved telling people about the side hustle I had.

"I'm impressed. That's good, though. Everybody needs a side hustle."

"Do you have one?"

A'Mylo shook his head. "Nah. When I'm not working, I'll put things together, such as shelves and tables. You get it, but I do it because I want to. I have a collection of stuff I've put together."

I did a little dance in my seat, letting myself know the drink had gotten to me. "Okay, okay. I see us."

We shared a laugh. Once I loosened up around this man, I let myself be me. The drink I had helped me along the way.

“Since I know what you like to do, tell me some things you dislike.”

He looked me straight in my eyes and said, “I don’t like when someone thinks they’re going to tell me what to do and I do it.

When it comes to my business, I hate when someone tries to make me out to be a liar.

One time someone tried to come for me through my business.

That almost got their asses hurt too. I’m territorial with any and everything I claim as mine. ”

I squirmed in my seat at his words. “As you should be. If it’s yours, why would you want someone else to have it?”

“Exactly. Are there things you don’t like?”

I scoffed with a roll of my eyes. “There are plenty of things I don’t like. I can’t stand being lied to or rude people. I’m the nicest person someone could ever meet but once they cross me, I can be a very spiteful person.”

He only stared at me. “That makes me wonder what the hell is your sign.”

I chuckled. “I’m a Scorpio.”

“Oh hell,” he mumbled, causing me to giggle.

After we were finished eating, A'Mylo ordered us more drinks. I couldn't finish my last one because I was tipsy, so he ended up finishing it for me.

He set the empty glass on the table. "This drink was sweet as hell. No wonder it got you tipsy fast."

I smiled. "It was good, though."

He agreed with a nod. "Are you ready to go, or do you want to continue sitting here and chilling?"

I covered my mouth as I yawned. "Oh, excuse me. If I continue to sit here, I'm going to fall asleep."

We shared a laugh.

"Let's get out of here, then."

Once A'Mylo put a tip on the table, he reached for my hand, and I placed it in his with no hesitation. We walked out of the bar in silence.

"This was fun. We should do it again," he stated, walking me to my car.

I smiled. "Uhhh, sure."

He glanced at me. "Yeah, play with it if you want to. Make sure you text me when you get home." We made it to my car, and I didn't want to leave. That came as a surprise, but he was fun to be around.

"I will. Goodnight."

"Night."

Once in my car, I sighed dreamily. Spending time with A'Mylo tonight had me wanting to do it again.

I knew I tried playing hard to get, but he was hard to say no to, especially when he wouldn't take no for an answer.

I could admit, I enjoyed myself with him tonight.

When I spoke, he listened, and that was something I hadn't had in a while.

With a small smile, I started my engine and drove away, heading home.
