She jumped up and down. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Let me go get my bag." She raced from the living room to get the bag.

As soon as she left, the moment was tense. I was ready to get out of here.

"I'm back!" Ni'Asia screamed, running into the living room with a bag that was bigger than her.

"No running," A'Mylo and Nya instructed at the same time.

She stopped immediately, causing me to smile.

"We're gonna go," A'Mylo said to Nya. "Nini, kiss your mama."

"Nice meeting you," I told Nya.

She gave me a small smile. "Likewise."

Once we made it outside of the apartment, I sighed in relief.

A'Mylo looked over at me. "You good?"

I only nodded. "Where are you taking us to eat?"

He grinned. "My house. I want to cook for the two ladies in my life." He leaned over and kissed my cheek before he connected my hand with his. He had Nini's hand on the other side of him.

In the car on the way to his home, we made small talk. Nini ended up falling asleep in the backseat.

"She's your twin," I noted with a smile.

He smiled brightly. "Yeah, that's my little shorty. I get that a lot. Just wait until you meet my brother and father. You'll think we are quads." He chuckled.

"I can't wait to meet them."

My cell phone vibrated on my lap. I picked it up and saw that I had a notification in the group chat I had with my girls.

Riyah:

Oh bitch. She's got her a man now and don't know how to text back.

I frowned at the text and strolled up to see that she had texted about an hour ago.

Jay:

Right! I am still waiting for her to call me back.

I smiled and texted them back.

Me:

I'm sorry, ladies. I'll do better. I'm with him and his daughter now. I'll call y'all later to tell y'all about it.

I had to make sure I returned their calls when I had the time. They had me feeling bad for not reaching out to them when A'Mylo and I spent time together. One thing I had to do was make time to spend with my girls, too.

Later that night, I was in A'Mylo's kitchen doing a puzzle with Nini while he cooked us a Chipotle dish. I couldn't wait to try it out. He had the kitchen smelling good with the different aromas in the air.

Nini playfully slapped her cheeks. "This puzzle will take forever."

I chuckled. "It was your idea to do it."

We were working on a sixty-four-piece puzzle featuring a Minnie Mouse theme that Nini had brought from home.

"I know," she whined, causing me to laugh at her. Nini was dramatic.

"I'm sure you did this puzzle before, right?" I asked.

She pouted with a shake of her head. "No, ma'am. I love doing puzzles, but I haven't done this one yet."

"Don't worry, I'll help you out. Let's get to it."

Nini pumped her fists in the air. She acted so much like A'Mylo, making me wonder if she was as demanding as he was.

"The food should be ready soon," A'Mylo called out.

Nini and I turned in his direction. "Okay."

He gazed at both of us and smiled. I wondered what was running through his mind right now.

Ten minutes later, we were at the kitchen table with our heads bowed while A'Mylo blessed the food. My mouth watered to taste it. It had looked so yummy.

"Amen," we recited in unison.

We dug into our meal, and Nini moaned in delight with her eyes closed. A'Mylo and I burst out laughing.

"Is it good, Nini?" he asked her.

She nodded. "So good."

I chuckled and went back to my food. The rice and steak were delicious together. Mylo needed to cook this for me all the time.

He turned his attention to me. "What about you? Is it good to you, too?" He had a look in his eyes that had me clenching my thighs together. He was lucky his daughter was at the table.

"Yes. It's amazing."

"Daddy, Lee and I finished the puzzle. She did most of the work, though," Nini mentioned to A'Mylo.

I bowed my head, trying not to laugh. "Nini was feeling a little discouraged, so I helped her out," I explained.

He shook his head. "I might as well say welcome to the family now. She has you wrapped around her fingers already."

Nini picked up her glass of lemonade and smiled before she took a sip.

It was the fact that he welcomed me into the family that had me wanting to blush, but I kept it together.

I saw what he meant when he said Nini was a great kid because she was.

He and Nya did a fantastic job with her.

She was a respectful little girl with a bright future ahead of her.

"Yes, welcome to the family," she cheered.

A'Mylo and I laughed.

After dinner, Nini and I washed the dishes for him.

"Mommy lets me dry the dishes sometimes, too. I think it's fun." She dried a plate and handed it to me to put away.

"Oh yeah? When I was younger, I hated doing the dishes. That was the worst chore ever," I shared, passing her a fork to wash off.

Nini gasped as her small eyes widened. "Really? I think it's fun."

I laughed. "You're saying that now. Just wait. When you get older, you'll be saying something different."

She only laughed with me. Gosh, this little girl pulled at my heartstrings.

After Ni'Asia and I finished with the dishes, A'Mylo bathed his daughter, and I helped him. By the time we were done, I was tired. I didn't know it would be as much work as it was, but I loved that he included me in their nightly weekend routine.

By 9:30 p.m., Nini was asleep. A'Mylo and I sat in his living room with a glass of wine.

Truth be told, I needed this quiet time.

I didn't know if I would stay the night at his house or not.

Since I hadn't brought a change of clothes, I doubted whether he'd wake his daughter up to take me home. I'd have to wait it out and see.

I truly enjoyed his daughter today. I thought for sure Nini wouldn't like me since I was with her father and not her mother.

That was how kids were. To this day, I didn't care for my stepmother and stayed away from her.

Perhaps I misjudged my stepmother, my father, and even my mother.

As a child, all I saw was her breaking up our happy home.

However, now that I was older, I saw relationships didn't always work out.

Being with A'Mylo taught me that, especially what he shared with me about himself and his baby mama.

I sighed deeply and lowered my head to my chest.

"What's the matter?" A'Mylo asked.

"I thought for sure your daughter wouldn't like me or that she'd be mean to me," I admitted.

He tilted his head to the side and studied me with a frown. "Why would you think that? I told you she was a respectable child. Nini wouldn't do anything like that to anyone."

I nodded. "I know that, but my childhood came back to me. I thought I'd be getting my karma from the way I treated my stepmother."

A'Mylo reached out his hand for me to take it, and I did. I loved that he was so caring. He was a good man, and it showed in everything he did for me. "You know it's never too late to fix a problem. If you want to correct it, you still have time to do so."

He had a point, but I wouldn't know how to do so.

It took a lot for me even to admit that.

I could hold a grudge until the end of time and be very spiteful.

I tried changing my ways, but that was hard to do.

That was the Scorpio in me. When I felt like someone had wronged me, it was hard for me to let it go and forgive them.

I gazed down into the glass I held in my hand. "You're right. I have to find a way to make things right."

Mylo let go of my hand and leaned back on the couch, reaching out and caressing my thigh. His hand felt so good on me. "If you want, I can be there with you."

I glanced over at him and smiled a little. "That's sweet, but this has to be something I do on my own.

He nodded. "I understand, but I want you to know I'm always here for you."

"I know, and I appreciate you for that."

He leaned over and kissed my cheek. I moved back so our lips could touch to get a kiss from him.

"Just to let you know, you're staying the night."

I beamed. "I kind of figured that out, and I'm fine with that."

We continued to sit in silence while we sipped the wine. This was peaceful and was something I had never done before.

"What do you think of Nya?" A'Mylo asked out of nowhere.

I chuckled. "Uhhh... I'm not really sure at the moment.

Call it a woman's intuition, but I have a feeling she doesn't like me with you.

I could be wrong, but it's just a feeling I have.

If I have to be around her more, I'll be cautious, but she was kinda friendly.

Again, a woman's intuition, but I could feel it was fake. "

Mylo remained quiet for a bit, and I felt as though I had said too much.

"Oh damn, well, all I can say is if you feel something, it's for a reason. However, I'm here to tell you now, nothing is going on with us besides arguing," he insisted. We share a laugh. "I've tried being her friend since we have a daughter together, but Nya is a hard woman to please."

I shrugged, taking a sip of the wine. "It's all good. There's no need to explain anything. I trust you."

"Good. That's all I ask of you. Trust me and trust in our relationship."

"I will."

"Now we have to seal it with a kiss."

I laughed and leaned over to touch his lips with mine.
