I rested my arms on the table as I leaned forward, staring at Sariyah and then Jaiden. "I'm not wrong, am I?" I lifted an eyebrow when neither of them said anything.
Before work, I met my girls at Creme Coffee Cafe, needing to talk to them about what happened between A'Mylo and me at the party.
Jaiden picked up her mug of coffee and took a long sip.
Her eyes bounced around the cafe, avoiding my eyes.
Sariyah kept her eyes averted from mine.
They weren't making me feel better about walking out on A'Mylo at the party and not talking to him.
We texted each other but hadn't seen one another since he dropped me off at home.
I missed Mylo like crazy and wanted to see him, but I didn't like the way he dismissed me.
"Hello!" I snapped, gaining their attention again.
"You're wrong," Jaiden asserted. "What does his ex have to do with you? There's such a thing as ignore. You could have used that. I know you don't like her, but she's someone you have to tolerate if you're going to be in A'Mylo's life."
She had a point, but it was something I didn't want to hear. I knew what I got into when I started a relationship with A'Mylo. What I didn't know was what type of woman Nya was.
"Y'all may need to have a sit-down and talk.
That may be the only way y'all can move forward.
What she did was foul and petty, while what you did was childish.
You could have found another way to enjoy yourself with your man.
Like Jaiden said, you were wrong. I get that's his ex, and y'all had words, but that man invited you out to have a good time.
And you did say that he didn't know she'd be there.
So, what was the problem?" Sariyah tilted her head to the side and studied me.
I squirmed under her gaze, unable to say anything. Here I was thinking my friends were about to have my back, but they had A'Mylo's. I didn't like that too much, but I knew they meant well.
I held my face in my hands and shook it. "I don't know what to do."
Jaiden scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You get your ass up and go get your man. You owe him a big apology, and you should suck his dick until it's raw."
Sariyah cringed while my mouth dropped. Sometimes we didn't know what would come out of Jaiden's mouth. She could be blunt and meant everything she said, too.
"Do I have to suck him that long?" My hand covered my mouth, trying to muffle my laughter.
Sariyah shook her head as a chuckle slipped from her mouth. She reached for her drink, took a long sip from it, and ended up choking because she laughed. We joined in and got stares, but we didn't mind.
"I'm sick of Jaiden," Sariyah declared, wiping her eyes.
She wasn't the only one. "At least we know what she's doing when she pisses her husband off. No wonder her jaw be hurting all the time, and she's blaming it on her tooth," I joked, still trying to get my laughter under control.
Sariyah threw her head back and laughed until tears rolled down her face. One thing my friends did for me was make me feel bad about what I did, but they also made me laugh about it. I'd never trade them for anything in the world. They had my back and gave it to me straight.
"Are you going to get your man?" Sariyah asked me.
I nodded with a smile. "I am. After what you guys said, I do owe Mylo a big apology and want to apologize to him." I dropped my head to my chest and sighed. "I feel terrible."
"As you should, but you have the chance to make it right. Now that you know that you're wrong, you can fix it and make it better," Jaiden affirmed.
Sariyah sneered. "Meanwhile, I'm still looking for a man. I'm going on a dating app."
I reached out and rubbed her back. "Girl, you still have all the time in the world. One will come to you. Just wait on him. You see, I did, and I have the best man ever."
"Meanwhile, your ass is getting mad because his baby mama is at the same party as y'all. Get the hell out of here. Do better," Jaiden retorted.
I shot daggers at her. "Shut the hell up."
"Yeah, we know the truth always hurts you."
I waved her off, not trying to feed into anything else she had to say. Jaiden worked on my damn nerves. She thought she had it together since she was in a marriage, but in marriages, couples had problems too. My parents were an example of that.
Still, I was glad I talked to my girls about what happened between A'Mylo and me.
Now I had to make things right with him.
I'd be damned if I lost him. What happened could be changed, and I would change it.
If we had to sit down with Nya, I'd be welcome to do that too.
She had to be willing to do that. The only thing I was concerned about was her popping off.
As long as she could be cool, I'd be too.
